Port Recovery
About the Business
Port Recovery, located at 8615 Ridgelys Choice Drive in Nottingham, Maryland, is a comprehensive institution offering residential and outpatient treatment for individuals struggling with chemical dependency. Our program, in compliance with State Regulations and accepted by the Maryland Judicial System and DMV, is designed to help individuals achieve and maintain sobriety from drugs and alcohol. We provide psychiatric and psychological services to individuals and families, with morning and evening classes available six days a week. Our licensed counselors offer weekly sessions to support our clients on their journey to recovery.
Port Recovery operates eight recovery houses in the Hamilton area of Baltimore City, providing a structured, clean, and safe environment for recovering addicts and alcoholics. Our "wrap-around" concept includes programs such as Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for substance abuse counseling, licensed DWI/DUI Program, and Mental Health Group therapy. We also offer additional services, including free medication delivery through our partnership with Finks Pharmacy.
Each of our homes hosts weekly 12-step meetings, led by community spiritual leaders. These meetings are not religious in nature, but focus on spiritual growth and support. Port Recovery collaborates with parole, probation, and detention departments to provide sentencing alternatives, such as home detention or drug court referrals. Our staff, who have personal experience with addiction, are dedicated to helping our clients without judgement.
We are proud to now offer complete Intensive Out-Patient (IOP) services to all clients and anyone seeking IOP treatment and education. Visit Port Recovery to hear the stories of real clients who have found hope and healing in recovery from addiction.

"Look I was there for probation and my counselor went to vacation and then all of a sudden no more phone calls no more appointments no more therapy and kept getting promised a new counselor and all of a sudden no one would even answer my calls, I violated my probation for this and I needed this help I just went to mountain manor and got the help that this place was not trying to give and I guess that messing with my life like this was nothing to them, but I'm not mad I'm better now than I would have ever been with this place so I guess they did what I needed after all. They are nice people but I never have heard good things before I went there and I still gave them a chance, don't make my mistake."
"Port Recovery has made many positive changes over the last several months with policies and procedures as well as their staff. Matt has and continues to have open communication to ensure mutual patients receive the best treatment services. It’s a pleasure to work together to support patients in their recovery."
"I have been with Port Recovery for about a year and a half now. I've had sessions with Alana, Elaine, Courtney, Joanne, and Carol. I also had M-F 9am group sessions as well when I was on probation. I like the place enough that I've decided to stay with them after probation to keep seeing Ms. Cook as my psychiatric nurse practitioner. The welcoming environment is exactly what I need, and most likely you too. I was referred to Port Recovery from my Probation Officer. I got into trouble by wrecking my car into a ditch while sleep driving on Ambien. I couldn't remember a thing, only waking up in the hospital. So, I stopped taking extra Ambien even if I can't fall asleep back in February 2020. Now, I'm getting help at Port Recovery with my severe anxiety, depression, and PTSD issues. Best place I've been to for those issues, and being able to see all the professionals I need under one roof is perfectly convenient. Everyone is on the same page! Good luck to everyone else!!! Highly recommended!"
"I would like to take the time to commend Port Recovery for helping people in all stages of their recovery. First of all, the people that are on here bashing Port Recovery must have issues they need to deal with. In the last year, I have lived in a few of the houses as a client, and have had the opportunity to visit the rest of the houses. In no way, shape, or form have the houses ever been overcrowded. The houses are kept clean because the clients have chores assigned to them which have to be done everyday. There is definitely nobody sleeping on mattresses on bare floors and the houses are inspected weekly by upper management. The owner Mrs. Joanne Granruth, and the staff in the office, Lois, Alana, and Robin are very helpful and go over and above to help clients in different situations. During your stay at Port if you have a problem with something, and you take it to management, it will be dealt with, if it isn't then it's on you. As long as you follow the rules as far as chores, meetings, getting a sponsor, building a network, and doing step work, there is no reason you can't maintain recovery. The houses have a recovery atmosphere that must be maintained in all the houses for clients coming in to help them do the correct thing, and clients that have been here for a bit, rebuild their lives and stay on the right path. If Port was as bad as these people say, why haven't they taken any action to do something about it. If you do the right thing, there is no reason you can't stay clean and sober at Port Recovery. People who relapse aren't doing what they're supposed to do in the first place, and are usually trying to break the rules to do what they want to do, and not following guidelines that will help keep them clean and sober, and most likely save their lives. If you are serious about getting clean and sober and not trying to just use the system, Port Recovery can help you succeed. I want to thank Port Recovery and their staff, especially Lois for everything they've done for me, and that they continue to do for all the clients. Keep up the great work!"
"Port Recovery is one of the largest and most efficient recovery programs in Baltimore City/ County. They have gone above and beyond to make sure that not only I, but many others in the program have the means to take the steps towards living not only a drug free life, but a more fulfilling life where RECOVERY comes first and and excuses come last. Louis the coordinator is amazing. The staff in general makes sure that they are active in taking a role in your progress. I would recommend that anyone interested in a genuine experience in staying clean goes to Port Recovery."
