Reviews of R&R Taqueria
"This is a good place for groups and extremely convenient to the convention center. We had a spur of the moment dinner among colleagues while everyone was in town for a conference- 10 people total. Making a reservation and adding additional seats was easy. Even though there seemed to be limited staff on schedule and our group straggled in at different times, our server did a great job at making sure everyone had their dishes and timing how the food was brought out. He was very pleasant and made sure details like extra water glasses, replacement forks, etc. were seen to quickly. We greatly appreciated his patience and competent service, especially since our stay backed up right against closing time. Payment was super easy- everyone received an itemized receipt with a QR code that allowed us to pay with our phones and not have to juggle cash/cards with our server- the easiest payment process I've ever had for large group dinners like this one. I would suggest that the signage could have been clearer- I didn't notice anything listing "R&R Taqueria" on the exterior of the building. We only knew we were at the correct location because of the Food Network decals and literal street address stenciled on the windows."
"Went in for dinner yesterday. Place was dead at 515pm, and I can see why. Ordered house margaritas to start. They tasted more like spiked orange juice. I ordered the fajitas and my buddy ordered enchiladas. My fajitas (ordered with no onions) came out with extra onions, but lacked flavor. His enchiladas came out as tacos with sauce on them. I also ordered elotes, but when it came out, it was literally a dry ear of corn (see picture). The rice was bland. It's no wonder why people weren't coming in. I'd give zero stars if I could. They claim to be authentic, but I'm not sure what was authentic about this meal."
"Overall not impressive but definitely not bad, either, as it has solid food that wasn't out of this world, and some was better than others. I would say R&R is a classic Mexican food spot that one would go to for some easy walk-in food. The pozole was pretty good, and the meat was very tender so that made up for the fact that the soup itself was fairly average (well-seasoned but didn't taste any better than other pozole). The nachos were freshly made which I could tell based on the traces of frying still there after placing all the ingredients on top of the nachos. There was a fair amount of meat which was a good thing, and within one bite, one had to work hard to ensure everything was on the nachos, which was why extra nacho chips were nice because one could scoop from the top if they felt like they didn't get enough of the cheese or the sour cream if they already got a lot of meat from beneath everything else. As much as there was a lot of meat, the steak was pretty hard, so I am hoping they didn't use a thicker cut like an eye round. My lengua tacos came with rice, refried beans, and both red and green sauces. The rice and beans both tasted pretty solid, like classic Mexican food. The lengua was overcooked and became harder and drier than usual, so I had to use some lime juice and sauces to compensate for the dryness. The sauces were not super spicy, which could be good or bad depending on who is tasting it. The lengua flavor wasn't really there because it wasn't juicy enough, so if it wasn't for the texture, then I would think I was just having carne asada tacos, which would clearly be a downgrade. In terms of drinks, I had the piña colada and it didn't taste bad. I could taste the coconut rum but the pineapple juice flavor was pretty difficult to identify, although I finally did it. There wasn't enough condensed milk as I couldn't taste any of it. Overall not a bad drink, so I would call it average. Service was excellent! Our server checked on us a few times and as I was waiting for my friend, ensured that I wanted to wait for her instead of ordering first. He always showed up at the right time, too."
"I’ve always enjoyed coming to R&R during my work trips to Baltimore. The quality of Mexican food/tacos are definitely pretty good for the North East, and this review is coming from a well traveled foodie. They are known for their Al Pastor but everything I’ve tried is pretty tasty and authentic across the board. This chicken tortilla soup was good, but the broth could use a little more flavor."
"I visited this place with my family while looking for a casual restaurant with good eats. At first I wasn't sure what to expect when I walked inside but gave it a try. The food smelled delicious even my 6yr old was intrigued and he is picky with smells. The food was delicious and margaritas were great as well. Decent prices and attentive service."
