"Wasn’t a fan of Dr.Checca at all but I had a good experience with everyone else ! I went into be induced at 39 weeks Midwife Keri started my induction and was awesome through out the whole thing but her shift ended and Dr.Banfield took over and was amazing as well . The team of nurses I had during my delivery were awesome and had a great sense of humor throughout the entire visit ! I had my baby girl on thanksgiving! Mind you I moved here in September from out of state and was a high risk patient and they made the transfer so easy ! I see a lot of bad reviews and all I want to say is give it a try and judge for yourself !"
"I would go anywhere else except here. In 2014 I came here, since it’s the only OBGYN in the area. It was my first pregnancy, and they let me go to 43 weeks before they finally induced me. Dr Davis delivered my daughter… and he literally walked out of the room when I was in active labor. He did several procedures without my consent and it was just all around a terrible experience. His bedside manner is just nonexistent, and honestly I’m not sure how he still is able to practice medicine. I came back in 2022 with my second pregnancy, hoping they got better after 8 years. I have a history of having HG and told my new dr this. I couldn’t even keep water down. I was losing weight like crazy, was coming in 2-3x weekly for iv treatments. I started passing out and my face would go numb. I begged the dr to help me at 20 weeks when I couldn’t take anymore- and was told this was all “mind over matter” and that I needed to stop being so afraid to gain weight with my pregnancy. I was basically accused of having an eating disorder when I had Hyperemesis . I immediately transferred to another office (Annapolis). Come to find out within a week Annapolis got me a zofran pump because my HG was so severe and found out I had severe anemia, to the point I had to get blood transfusions. Somehow this office missed all of this. I would never go here if you want to be taken seriously or have any kind of high risk issues."
"Do not go here. Twice they have dug around and blew my veins during blood draw. Then today they called me back and took two viles of blood without even confirming that I am the correct patient. When they asked my date of birth and it was different they looked wide eyed at each other. I checked their screen in front of me and it was a different Sarah with a different last name. I just had surgery from my 4th misscariage so I don’t want some poor woman to be told her baby may die because they mixed up my blood with hers and she thinks her hcg is dangerously low. When I mentioned that they got the wrong patient they just told me to leave. Don’t come here if you want good correct care."
"Honestly the worst doctors office I’ve had the displeasure of having to visit. I won’t even blame the receptionists because a lot is obviously out of their control… although a few of them are rude, my main issue is with the doctors, NPs, CNMs, and whoever else they have employed there as medical professionals. This office has terrible communication amongst themselves, ZERO communication with patients, shady practices, and no explanation or transparency of their their policies. My automatic Rx refills were cancelled without anyone alerting me that I apparently needed to have an appointment in order to get the prescription refilled. So now I have to deal with the physical consequences of their lack of respect and refusal to communicate. Every visit I’ve been to has been rushed, impersonal, and makes me feel as if the providers didn’t even take the time to review my patient file and medical history. I shouldn’t have to give a full rundown of my medical history at every single visit (which is always with a different random doctor). It is their responsibility to read and use critical thinking skills to be informed before they walk into the room. Both SEPARATE doctors that delivered my two separate children have literally seen me in office not long after my deliveries and acted (?) as if they had never seen me before. Like introduced themselves and everything. How dehumanizing to have your entire v****a exposed to these people in the most scary, intimate, and vulnerable state and then have that person act as if they’ve never seen you before. It’s honestly kind of questionable that such people should be trusted with my medical health and safety. The providers are not genuine, not authentic, and don’t seem to care about anything but a check, rushing to the next patient, and clocking out for the day. Please I beg you to reconsider choosing this as your provider if you can help it. It’s worth it to drive to Prince Frederick or Waldorf for competent, compassionate, and attentive medical care."
"I have been a patient at SMWH (now Medstar owned) for five years and have had three children delivered by their doctors/midwives. The office staff has always been friendly and helpful with scheduling. They have quite a busy job and always seem to be rocking it! For pregnancy, I do appreciate that the office seems to want you to have at least one appointment with each doctor/midwife so you can meet each of them. Every medical staff member has been welcoming and they take the time to listen to any questions or concerns. Lauren Ervin in particular is just always so gentle in her tone and manner. The nurses in the bloodwork area are also wonderful and are great at distracting me while getting my blood drawn, haha! My experience with SMWH has always been pleasant and I would highly recommend them."
