"Amazing school. Personal development for kids is excellent. Academics for this school is top notch and far exceeds public schools in Fairfax County, VA. Completely recommend!"
"I currently go to Bishop Ireton and I love it! Everyone here is nicer and more engaging than at my old school. I feel welcomed and like a member of our school community. The teachers are amazing and are more able to focus on each student's individual success because of the school's smaller size."
"I see several past or ex BI students recently gave the school a poor rating. I totally disagree. “Life is what you make of it”. Clearly these ex students didn’t use the time they were at BI to take responsibility for their own actions and make a place for themselves in a very vibrant, diverse and highly rated college prep school. Drugs and alcohol are issues at every high school; what matters is how the school responds to these issues with its students. As a parent of a BI student myself, I know firsthand that the school holds all-hands assemblies with students to discuss the dangers, and consequences of, vaping, drugs, alcohol, etc. Also, I’ve seen BI’s administrators take swift and severe action against students using illegal substances on campus. If you are a current, ex or former BI student and your concerns focus on not being popular or that your “Juul” got confiscated, you probably didn’t/don’t belong at BI. For Parents: I graduated from BI in the 80’s when it was an all-boys Catholic College Prep High School. I had cooky teachers and demanding teachers (who didn’t) but, all of them would do anything to help their students succeed. I wasn’t “popular” but I found my place, joined clubs, made life-long friends and got a great Catholic education that prepared me for college - and, more importantly, for life and, I see it coming around full-circle with my son. Simply put, if you are considering BI for your son or daughter, call them up and schedule a tour. BI also offers rising freshmen to “shadow for a day” with a BI Freshman -lunch and all. When your kid comes back home that day, they’ll know (and you’ll know) if BI is a great fit for them. I couldn’t be happier with my decision to send my son to my alma mater, Bishop Ireton. He’s working hard and getting a good Catholic education, he’s involved, making friends, and becoming a wonderful young man."
"I attended. I was not popular, did not do drugs, was not male, and still absolutely adored my time. There is a niche for everyone. The teachers genuinely care. I'd say it's more of a drinking school that a drug school, as some other commenters said. That's not the school's problem, though. Facilities are good, and there is enough time despite small hallways to get between classes. Great school."
"Great Catholic school with dedicated teachers. Band and theatre programs are standouts. The school's focus is on educating the whole person. While mostly an academic school, the football team has been State runners up in recent years, and the baseball team was WCAC runner up recently as well. The school does not have more than 800 students, and is coeducational. So it is a small school, but large enough to offer plenty of different programs. The school also has a robust and outstanding AP program."
