"Update: 12.12.23 I just found out how it works, thru someone at the call center. You will get an appt with a new provider WHEN your old provider says you should have another appt. I called in and got an appt for Dec. This gal who called me said " I see it's for Dec. But they weren't supposed to give you one until your current provider said you should come back in. You shouldn't have gotten an appointment until February." I wrote to NP Bowling about a mammogram referral that has expired, so I need a new one, and asking her to take off medicine I was prescribed by a harried nurse in Phoenix for a problem I never had. Also asking why physical therapists get my ENTIRE health history on a referral. CLEARLY she doesn't want to deal with patients that have questions. She PUSHED to get me another provider. *** The star is for Stephanie, the gal that draws blood. She is excellent at her job. NP Bowling will not answer questions about blood tests, will not do her job. She has pushed me to another provider at massaponax. Which is fine with me. I prefer a group of people that don't give excuses & answer questions. My blood test was 9/28. I have yet to receive a hard copy of it. I have yet to receive directions on what to do about some of the results on the blood test. I had to write in to get anyone to call me, and this is 3 weeks later. The nurse, Tina, ARGUED with me saying that they don't get alarmed at things that are two or three points off in a blood test. Yet, they told me to quit taking vitamin D because it was high. I lived in Phoenix. This place is worse than Phoenix. Phoenix was actually good for me. I never had a problem at Phoenix."
"I had an appointment get cancelled and did NOT find out until I had arrived. The person was rude and told me they were limited on what they could say in voicemails. Today, I find out a release form I dropped off on October 2 for my provider has been lost. I will give it directly to my provider since the reception desk is clearly incompetent."
"HORRIBLE. It's a good thing I am not dying. I can NEVER get anyone to answer the phone to make appointments. What a horrible way to treat us Veterans. Makes me want to travel all the way to Richmond....This is horrible. I just cannot believe it. Seems that I need to get my Congressman involved to fix this."
"It's a pretty small clinic, but it doesn't feel overcrowded, and I have had very good experiences with the doctors, nurses, and lab techs. Getting an actual appointment, however, can take a month or longer (probably because of its size). ALWAYS remember to schedule your next appointment at the checkout window BEFORE you leave!!!"
"The VA should be ashamed for how this location is ran. Scheduling appointments for this location is a joke and the customer service is nonexistent. Showed up and checked in on the kiosk for bloodwork as soon as they opened (0700), and after waiting for 20 minutes I finally asked the receptionist if they were even open since no one greeted me while I was waiting in the waiting area. The receptionist told me to check in at the kiosk. I explained to her that I already did in which she then told me to just have a seat. Finally after waiting another 5 minutes I left since this was wasting my time and I had to get to work. Later that same day I showed up for my actual appointment with the doctor and checked in again. This time a different lady from before actually greeted me and asked for my insurance card. She made a copy, handed it back to me, and asked me to have a seat and that the nurse would be right with me. Almost an hour later I went back up to the counter to ask what's going on. A different receptionist looked me up and said that my appointment was canceled as the doctor has been out all week due to sickness! He said they left a voice mail inbox but I have nothing in my voice mail informing me of a cancelation. The only thing I had was a voicemail from them requesting that I come in early for lab work. I refuse to step foot in that place ever again. Save your time and mental health and proceed to another location. This isn't how anyone, let alone vets, should be treated."
