"I was looking for urgent care New Years Eve for an ongoing ear infection. I logged into MyChart and Rhode Island Avenue was the only location that had available appointments for New Year’s Day. I booked an appointment for 440pm, checked in electronically and asked to pay my copayment. When I arrived the facility was closed and I was still receiving notifications about how GW would see me soon. The other reviews are correct. The women that work here outside of the doctors have little to no manners and are rude. When you check in, they will be on there cell phones during transactions with little eye contact. Perfunctory responses and asking for clarification results in you listening to an exact repeat of whatever they said. The nurse who has the accent was very rude to an older man who was confused about why he didn’t have a paper prescription anymore. He was told to go somewhere else then, and I got to listen to the nurse talk about him to her colleagues and laugh. GW has the monopoly on health care in this town and it has resulted in poor service and little to no accountability. All negative reviews are met with a please call this number at GW. If you can get past the service, I think the doctors are okay."
"The reception staff has no tact or any type of customer service skills, they were more interested in loudly smacking on potato chips and discussing their lack of childcare over the winter break than greeting patients. It took 45 minutes to be seen even though I had an appointment. Nobody answers the phone, I said I had been calling and was told that the phones are kept on silent at that location. This used to be my primary care a few years ago and after my last visit I will NEVER come back to that location. It has completely changed for the worst."
"The place is horrible I don't know maybe it used to be good but not recently. I came Saturday in a Uber only to get turned around. The ghetto lazy reception shown no compassion or anything. They seem to open when they want very inconsistent. It's just not a caring professional health facility. I will definitely never return there. GW YOU NEED TO REALLY STRAIGHTEN UP AND HIRE COMPASSIONATE STAFF MEMBERS. ALSO IF YOU DON'T REALLY CARE FOR PEOPLE STOP TAKING THESE TYPE OF JOBS JUST FOR THE MONEY . WE NEED COMPASSIONATE PEOPLE IN HEALTHCARE PERIOD"
"Scheduled an appointment for primary care, including blood work a month in advance. Showed up at my appointment, and was made to feel like I was an unwanted visitor the whole time. The attending nurse (I wish I had gotten her name but alas she never told it to me) was not just short but actually very rude. She was bossy and frankly quite mean. The doctor took forever to come in and then I was informed that I couldn’t get bloodwork because it was too late in the day. (They only had four weeks where they could have called and told me to make an earlier appointment, but that would have taken effort on their part.) I had to return for the blood work, the phlebotomist was nice after I put in some work to chat with her. I received the blood test results quickly but then never heard back from my doctor about what they meant. I left a message via their portal and even called their office. No word. Hopefully I’m not dying. Truly could not be more disappointed. Save your time. Save your money. Go elsewhere. Would give zero stars if possible. Merry Christmas!"
"Today, I entered the facility in distress, short of breath due to an asthma attack. Both staffers replied very nonchalantly we don’t take walk-ins and we don’t have any appointments. I replied while struggling to breathe that I am having an asthma attack! I can’t breathe! One clerk said sorry but I don’t have any appointments. Neither did any to alert a doctor or a medical personnel to check me out . They could have assisted me by calling another facility to see who had openings. No instead, they sent me out in tears struggling to breathe. They both exuded very bad attitudes and poor customer service and care. I don’t know their names because I didn’t have the energy to ask them for their names. Shortly, I went to Med Star located at Eastern Market, the facility had patients standing room only. I walked to the front desk, I could barely speak my condition, but the staffer saw me struggling to breathe. Immediately, she grabbed a doctor, they called me in the room took my vitals and started my treatments and did X-rays. Now, that’s what I call extraordinary customer service. Here is my tip for life! Please Don’t take a job you don’t enjoy. The medical community must hire staffers who have a passion for people no matter what position they occupy. I will never enter your facility again."
