Reviews of UM BWMG - Women's Health at Hanover
"I would not recommend this place to anyone. First mistake, I was told I couldn’t get blood drawn here due to a billing issue. Come to find out, the phlebotomist entered the wrong information. Second, scheduled with Dr. Gaskins who cancelled on me same day, then had me sitting in a room for an hour after having to wait another week to see her & I couldn’t wait any longer. Third, I called the emergency number at 8:30 pm due to extreme vomiting & nausea & did not get a call back until 4 hours later. This place does not value their patients or their patients time!"
"Trigger warning this review is long and includes words about pregnancy loss. Most of the receptionists at this practice show no empathy. The very first time I called to schedule a new patient appointment for prenatal care the receptionist was able to help me get in. That was great, but after that, everything went down hill. I began having a miscarriage and the hospital told me that my ob will have to confirm it and that they can't tell me. My appointment wasn't scheduled until 3 weeks after I started miscarrying. And my wedding was in 2 weeks. I called and asked them if they can please help me. That it would really help to have closure before my wedding. They told me no because I'm a new patient and they dont even see anyone before 8 weeks. I kept my appointment and tried to find more help. I resulted in asking my primary care doctor to refer an ultrasound for me. I bled for weeks even after my wedding. I cancelled my honeymoon so that I could be near my doctors and follow up with the primary physician. Then she told me that I'm miscarrying but I'm still bleeding. That she needed me to see an OB asap because if there's anything left, I could be at risk for infection. My appointment with UM fell on the morning that I had to go back to work after my wedding. But because I spent pto on the hospital visit and doctor's appointments all while finishing wedding planning, I didn't have any pto left. I called UM and asked if they could please see if they can move up my appointment before I go back to work and again the lady immediately said no. No hesitation, not even an ounce of concern. She said "we have nothing for new patients" without even pausing to check. I asked if the doctor was available at any other locations. And she said "not for new patients". She barely let me finish my questions before interrupting me with repeated "no"s. I miscarried and bled for weeks. Bled throughout my wedding and honeymoon. I went to the hospital and saw multiple doctors who told me that only my ob can finalize everything. There was no one left to help me. And this practice showed no concern for my feelings or my risk of infection. The only reason that I am keeping my appointment is so that I can make sure I'm okay before immediately going back to work. If you can get in before your health is at risk, I'm sure this practice seems great. But if you happened to look for this doctor during early pregnancy, they can do nothing for you until you're 8 weeks and when there is "room" for new patients. Which could take months. My wedding and honeymoon will forever be slightly tainted with feelings of sadness and uncertainty because of this practice. It would have been sad regardless because of the miscarriage, but it was painful to still pretend to be pregnant in front of the few people who knew about it because my doctor couldn't help me and I didnt want to say what happened until my doctor saw me."
"I switched to this practice in the middle of my pregnancy after a not so great experience at another hospital. My first appointment was with Cheryl Appleton and she was amazing! From the beginning I felt heard and respected. Throughout my pregnancy I also got to meet with other great midwives like Michelle Clausen and Kendall Pearson. Michelle was so attentive and really good at calming my nerves. Kendall was ultimately the midwife that delivered my baby and I felt soo lucky. Kendall was so mindful of my birth plan and she has such a soothing personality - exactly what you need in the delivery room! I highly recommend going here. I look forward to future deliveries here."
"I went here for two visits. Early in my pregnancy I was subjected to a drug screen completely unknown to me (until the negative result came into MyChart) honestly, I was so disappointed by the care."
"I had an emergency (scan results and everything) and they scheduled me with an oblivious midwife who did absolutely nothing. I even had to remind her of the tests/samples I needed to give. Very lost and incompetent, but sweet lady though. Then they tried to schedule me an appointment 2 WEEKS out AFTER I pressed for something sooner than the MONTH AWAY that they wanted to schedule in the first place, just to see a real OBGYN like I should have already. Terrible experience. Do not recommend."
