Reviews of Valley College
"My experience at Valley College left me feeling frustrated, at times. I loved the support staff and enjoyed our interactions, and I believe they truly care about educating students; however, the actual learning process needs some work and more tender loving care. More emphasis seemed to be put on completing the discussion questions and responses, which isn’t in and of itself terrible, if those questions had more to do with the material being learned each week. It felt like busy work more than connecting dots. I often felt like I was teaching myself, as almost no actual instruction took place in many (not all) of the classes, aside from putting out PowerPoint slide presentations. Helpful, to be sure but not adequate enough to bridge the gaps in the faster learning environment. It was common to experience zero dialogue between instructors and students, which at times, was frustrating. A handful of instructors went above and beyond. Phil Thacker (amazing instructor) being the absolute best example of an instructor who doesn’t just push out presentations and call it a day. I learned things from him and his discussion questions and video lessons, which he is very involved in and he asks follow up questions that made us think about what we needed to learn. That type of interaction is much more helpful to the student than simply pushing out pre-scripted lesson plans All in all, I’m glad I have my degree and am thankful. I feel that just as nursing students have a significant amount of clinical hours to get hands-on experience, the cybersecurity field would benefit from a higher emphasis on hands-on lab learning, as I feel it facilitates a more well-rounded understanding of the materials."
"This is a appreciation post to my admissions rep gaelene kennedy from valley college, and getting me enrolled recently. Thank you for all you did helping me feel safe, comfortable and understanding everything after enrolling into Valley College. Today as my first day in buisness english as my first class has been tiring, but also very rewarding. I'm loving college so far, and ready to see what the rest of the future holds. I'm happy I took this step and I'm forever grateful you helped me to make sure I'll succeed and don't fail."
"Gail Kennedy is my admissions representative and let me tell you it was a long and trying process to get me enrolled but Gail went above and beyond always checking in and seeing if I need anything. I couldn’t imagine a better experience. Thank you Gail for everything!"
"I attended Valley College’s MCA program. The overall program is bogus. Teachers and staff pick favorites and it’s very noticeable. If you need help outside of class, some teachers act like it’s a huge issue. The externship at the end of the programs should be re checked for being “accredited” as I did absolutely nothing but sit and stare at a computer majority of it. I learned zero clinical skills being there. The checklist I would have to turn it would basically be blank and my overall week sheets would be repetitive. This school really needs to take a look at how they’re doing things and needs to reevaluate where they sent their students for externship."
"I highly doubt the validity of the reviews provided, in fact they look like they are written by the same angry student (if they ever went to begin with), with the same misspellings and lack of punctuation. I am in fact a student here. I have received my certificate in medical and advanced on toward the degree program. After completing my certificate I obtained employment as a medical office manager for a wonderful company (literally 10 minutes from my home!). I truly feel blessed to have found a college that truly cares. I received individualized attention, continuous encouragement from Administration and Faculty members, and career counseling that helped me become the professional that I currently am! I can truly say that I not only learned the skills necessary from my texts and instructors, but from countless guest speakers, real world application, resume assistance, interviewing assistance, and the value of this school is obvious...I went on my interview and when I told them I went to Valley College, they were impressed. Their previous manager went to Valley College and transferred to one of their other offices. Again, I am almost complete with my degree program and am transferring to a large, well known school (online) to pursue my Bachelor's Degree. I was so happy to learn all my credits transferred and truly, I thank Valley, not only for my education, and the assistance they provided in obtaining my job (launching my career), but because I feel I possess the skills and confidence to pursue my Bachelor's Degree exclusively online. Thank you so very much."
