Reviews of Pulmonary and Sleep Academy
"I am a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician in Houston and want to keep up my knowledge of critical care and pulmonary topics. When I heard about the Pulmonary and Sleep Academy, I knew this would be a great way to do that. And so far through the pulmonary course, it definitely has been! It’s been both a great review of the basic medical school concepts while also introducing and explaining higher level clinical pearls. The presentations are clear and the graphics put some of the complex ideas into nice visual depictions that are way better than any text description could be. The built-in test questions and ability to earn CME are great additions as well. Occasionally the volume of the speaker can vary between slides, but that’s my only criticism! Otherwise, it has been a fantastic educational opportunity and I highly recommend it to any clinical provider who wants to advance his or her knowledge of important pulmonary topics!"
"The sleep academy session is a great continuing education program to learn or reinforce knowledge in sleep medicine. This program provides in-depth technical information with associated clinical application. I wish that Sleep Academy was around when I started practicing sleep medicine. I recommend this for new providers to sleep medicine or those that just need a refresh!"
"I am in my 4th year of my practice as Advanced Nurse Practitioner in United Kingdom and almost 3 years ago when I was new in my role, the pulmonary and sleep medicine modules greatly helped me to strengthen and improve my knowledge for my consultation. I still go back to those modules and refresh my knowledge repeatedly. I was happy when I learnt that Dr Sloane was opening up the critical care medicine academy and excitedly waited to have access. So far I have gone thru the following modules; Respiratory failure and mechanical ventilation , pulmonary emergencies, Acid Base disorders , Acute Renal Insufficiency , sepsis syndrome and Neurological emergencies. All the sessions were well prepared and organized with clear explanation of concepts and terms. As I work with Respiratory medicine ,I deal with weaning form Invasive ventilation and this module helped me to gain in depth knowledge about PEEP and Auto PEEP different modes that is used in CCU ,and ventilator asynchronies. Majority of my work is with Non-invasive ventilation and the basic principles really helped me to boost my knowledge of NIV and motivated me to do my best in my clinical practice. In our day to day practice , we have to interpret x ray and the session on pulmonary emergencies really pulled together intellectually and management of pneumothorax and PE met my expectations more than I anticipated. . Though we deal with interpreting ABG on a daily basis, the hidden and complex Acid base disorders opened the eyes for further exploration and made the subject more interesting As the Neurological disorders is one of the main cause of ventilatory failure, the key information was highlighted to make the session more visible and interesting . All the session were targeted, focused and concise which helps me to refresh my knowledge time and time again .All the modules demonstrated consistency and up to date good practices. Additionally, the pre-test and post-test gives the opportunity to check the progress and own understanding which add value to the modules. The CCMA is extremely beneficial to staff who works not only in Critical care unit but any other practitioners based in clinical setting and strongly recommend all clinical Practitioners to undertake the Critical care Medicine Modules . Thanks so much for having a valuable experience"
"I have been a PA for 18 years working in Primary Care, Urgent Care and ER. This course would have been invaluable during my time as a Primary Care Provider. I began started a new position two years ago in pulmonary and sleep medicine with the VA. There was no formal training for this position, I spent hours reading and educating myself on proper evaluation and treatment for sleep issues. This course went beyond my expectations, teaching aspects of sleep medicine that I have immediately incorporated into my daily practice (even before I completed the full course). I cover outpatient and telemedicine for pulmonary and sleep issues, the education from this CME has improved the way I care for patients. I highly recommend this course for anyone wanting to improve their knowledge of sleep medicine. I also completed the pulmonary CME course it was excellent more information than I thought would be provided. I have recommended it to my colleagues because as I was discussing it with them they had forgotten or was not aware of the information provided. Thank you for providing the course in a manner that’s manage with full time employment."
"I have been working in Pulmonology (both inpatient and outpatient) for 2 years now. This presentation covers all the important pulmonary topics. Well organized and presented. A must for any APP starting in Pulmonary Medicine. I wish I would have signed up for this sooner."
