"As a first time mom I felt so lost when it came to breastfeeding. I started working with Misty at the Lactation Room last year when my daughter was born and I truly can’t say enough positive things about her and the other IBCLC’s at the Lactation Room! My daughter had a lip and tongue tie that her pediatrician overlooked, after struggling with nursing, and meeting with Misty, she confirmed it. After we got my daughter’s ties released, Misty helped us with latching and ensuring she was feeding effectively. I just wanted to say I am so grateful for all the help, and thankful! To any mom who is struggling or lost, check out the Lactation Room!"
"I can't speak highly enough about the Lactation Room, specifically our consultant Mary! As a new mom, it is overwhelming to try learning how to breastfeed before your little one arrives and even more difficult when you are in the hospital and have no clue what to do. My family met with Mary the day after we got home and it was instantly a game changer. She spent that first session helping us latch, observing the feeding, walking us through what a typical feeding might look like, giving tips, and answering all of our questions. From there, we scheduled follow-ups on an as needed basis and had access to a messaging portal for any questions that could be answered without an in-person meeting. Mary was amazing with quick responses and reliable information. The added plus of home visits was even more convenient as she could help us in our own space and we didn't need to venture out if we didn't want to. As much as I wish my journey was easy, feeding proved to be a challenge with our little one including a tongue and lip tie, but Mary was there every step of the way giving encouragement, referrals, and resources. We felt like she became a part of our family for those first few months and saw just how caring, compassionate, and committed she is to her work. If you are a new mom and planning to breastfeeding, don't do it alone and seek help early! Even if everything goes great, it's always nice to have a resource available."
"Jenny did so much more than just help us with our breastfeeding journey, she truly changed the trajectory of my twins’ lives! She referred me to other resources to help with lip and tongue ties, as well as torticollis. She validated my feelings and concerns and genuinely shared excitement in our successes. She assisted with my pumping schedule. She made sure I felt confident in our future after our time at Lactation Room was done, and has even checked in with us to make sure we are still doing alright! I went from being 2 months postpartum and my babies never being able to latch, to 3 months in and successfully feeding both of them in one sitting without supplementing. I know we wouldn’t be where we are today without her and for that I will be forever grateful. Thanks so much, Jenny!"
"Sarah and her team at Lactation Room are great!! Easy to talk to and you can tell she really cares about helping you find the best plan for you and your baby. Highly recommend!"
"Jenny was kind and supportive! Lactation Room is an amazing resource for Montgomery County. We saw Jenny once a week for a month as we worked to wean off the nipple shield and correct a poor latch. She helped to identify a tongue and lip tie. Following the procedure, she helped us with the mouth exercises for healing and continued to help with the latch. She patiently answered all the questions I had at each visit and provided a lot of useful information. We are still working on towards enjoyable pain-free breastfeeding but Jenny certainly helped us a lot on our journey! My only complaint was that my husband was unable to join me at the visits due to restrictions for COVID safety. I understand the need for such restrictions but worry that not including both parents in the process has the potential to lead to a reduced length of time breastfeeding."
