"Dr. Zerla was the 1st psychiatrist I ever went to see in my life, and in Frederick, MD, when I sank into a medical clinical depression. He was very professional and really knew his trade. He was also a good, decent human being. After asking many questions, he explained very calmly why he asked them to help me understand his eventual diagnosis. He then prescribed what turned out to be the spot-on prescription for me. He also explained what each medication would do, and their side-effects. My depression lifted only 2 days afterI started the medication (which I followed, of course for the duration he advised). He also sent me to see a therapist concurrently. I don't know when Dr. Zerla moved away from Frederick, MD. Many GPs or Family doctors and Mental health LNPs in Frederick nodded their heads and agreed he was one of the best, and were sorry he no longer practiced here. After 18 years, I googled and just found Dr.Zerla practicing in Bethesda and Hagerstown. I do hope he could still see me as a patient in 2018, as I now have Medicare on top of my BCBS plan. Whatever the outcome, I am still grateful. Grazie mille, Dottore!"
