Reviews of Oyamel Cocina Mexicana
"My husband brought me here for my birthday meal with my family. They gave us 3 menus- brunch, regular entrees/tapas, and restaurant week ($25/person). We chose the restaurant week menu for 3 people and decided to try many things on the menu, family style. Each person gets 4 items. They served us a huge bowl of chips and salsa as soon as we were seated. It was free and offered to everyone. We even asked for a refill since the chips were so crunchy and yummy. A bit salty so we tapped the chip on the plate to catch the seasoning. The food was fairly good but not the best Mexican food I’ve had. The waiters were super attentive. It was a cold day today so I asked for hot water and the waiter came to ask me if I wanted a refill before I even asked. Dirty plates were taken away as soon as we moved it aside to the edge of the table. I got 3 clean plate changes! I never had to call a waiter over because they would come at the right moments before we needed to call them. Seriously, this is one of the best service I’ve received at a restaurant. 10/10 The decor is pretty cool with butterflies hanging from the ceiling, and another ceiling covered with flowers. Almost reminds me of “Encanto” the restaurant was packed with many people. There was a cool guacamole making station also. We made a reservation the day before, so we didn’t have to wait. We were seated almost immediately. Restrooms were clean and located on the lower level. We found street parking just one block from the restaurant near the Starbucks."
"We recently dined at a Oyamel Mexican restaurant that left a lasting impression. I like the vibrant atmosphere and colorful decor. The menu boasted a wide array of authentic dishes, especially tacos. We started with freshly made guacamole, prepared in the middle of restaurant with ripe avocados and zesty lime. The chips were crispy and freshly made, and the guacamole was a perfect balance of creamy and flavorful. For the main course, I opted for the tacos, and they did not disappoint. The beef was tender and juicy, complemented by the freshness of cilantro and onions. The restaurant’s margaritas were exceptional, we tried pomegranate margarita and it was strong with a tequila kick. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, providing recommendations that enhanced our dining experience. Portions were small, but enough for one person, not sharable size. The service is fast. I highly recommend it for anyone seeking a taste of Mexico in a warm and inviting setting."
"We went here for my birthday as a surprise from my partner who had a flawless time setting up a reservation. All the food was really fresh and tasty, and even the guac is made out in the open. We ordered a variety of different dishes to share, and while pricey, you do get what you pay for and it was worth it. The vibe was very nice, it was very enjoyable to see many folks and families having a good time and enjoying themselves with good food and drinks."
"My friend took me there as a surprise. I was excited because I had heard great things. Honestly I was disappointed. The food was no better than any other Mexican restaurant. The only difference is you pay 4 times the price here. My Caesar salad was served warm. That’s warm lettuce. Every other dish was okay. Noting bad, but also nothing great or out of the ordinary. Service wasn’t special either. Staff was nice but again, not a special experience. I was very much looking forward to this being an awesome place. It’s just good ole > Mexican food."
