"It's a very nice view from the bench"
"My son has been at RSCC for more than two years now, and with each successive month, my wife and I are happier and happier with our decision. We exhaustively researched many options in and around Bethesda and the biggest factor in choosing RSCC was the almost complete lack of staff turnover. So many employees have been there for more than 10 years, which is nothing short of amazing in the child care arena. In almost any business, long tenured employees is a very good sign. We son has moved up to his fourth classroom now and I am continually amazed (and thankful) for the care, compassion, teaching, and professionalism I see from literally every staff member. Almost everyone seems to know our son by name, even though he has never been in any of their classrooms. In the end, their is a real sense of community here at RSCC which I think sets it apart. I'll be sad in a few more years when my son graduates to kindergarten and leaves RSCC.....although it will be nice to no longer have tuition bills and take advantage of MCPS."
"I recently withdrew my youngest daughter from Rock Spring after three months because I found the care to be not up to the standard I've experienced at other local centers. On several occasions, I saw the staff be sarcastic with the toddlers. They habitually did not greet my daughter in the morning (which made her less secure and dropoffs much more difficult), and there was a tremendous amount of staff turnover in her room during that short time. On a couple of occasions, I raised concerns with the administration. They said they'd "take care of things," but no one ever followed up with me. I really wanted this to work, and they made a great first impression. But over the last three months, I've found them to be inflexible, unsympathetic and unwilling to take any responsibility for their actions, or my concerns. My last straw was when my daughter was crying during dropoff and no one went to comfort her after I left. As I watched from a distance, the teachers were too busy chatting with one another to notice her curled up on the ground. Heartbreaking. As was usual, when I told them the problem, they took no responsibility. My kids have been happily in childcare for six years, and I've never had these issues in the past. I just couldn't trust them to act in my child's interest."
