Guidepost Montessori at Sterling
About the Business
Guidepost Montessori at Sterling is a primary school located at 624 West Church Road in Sterling, Virginia, United States. Our institution is dedicated to empowering each child to achieve independence through a hands-on curriculum and personalized learning approach. We strive to create an environment where curiosity thrives, independence grows, and academic excellence is a natural outcome.
At Guidepost, we partner with parents to help children build the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to lead independent and fulfilling lives. Our mission is to support each child in achieving their own independence by cultivating joy in learning, effort, achievements, and self-authorship.
Our Montessori education approach has been proven to have positive impacts on academics and social-emotional skills. By designing an environment that meets the developmental needs and interests of children, alongside personalized care and support, our students learn advanced skills at an accelerated pace. For example, our kindergartners often learn to read by age 4 and can perform advanced math operations by the end of their kindergarten year.
Following elementary school, students continue on to our Montessori middle and high school, the Academy of Thought & Industry, which combines a classical liberal arts emphasis with a Montessori focus on independence and agency.
We offer year-round, extended-day programming at no extra cost to provide consistent care and developmental support. Parents receive daily photo and video updates, milestone meetings, and opportunities to showcase their child's progress. We also offer financial assistance and support to military families to ensure that education is not sacrificed when duty calls.
Guidepost Montessori is committed to providing a holistic education approach with over 120 schools, virtual options, and language immersion programs. Join us on a school tour to experience the transformational power of Montessori education for children ages 0 to 18. Step into the future of education with Guidepost Montessori.

"I have known Mr. Mike the Head of School for the past 7 years. Mike has a very humble heart and listens to any concerns you may have. He cares for the children and has been there for our family multiple times. I have also known Heidi for the past two years and can say she is very loving to each family. My 18 month old before coming to Sterling was at a in home daycare she would cry every morning and did not want to leave my side. Ever since she started with Ms. Ivy, Ms. Krissia and Ms. Rahel, has been happier and enjoys coming to school. She has learned so much and has been becoming more independent. I would highly recommended Ms. Ivy if you are looking for a toddler program for your child."
"❤️ it here! The guides are awesome and they put extra effort to care for the children."
"Our daughter has attended Guidepost schools for about 2.5 years and the Sterling location in particular since shortly after its opening. We have had such a great experience here and she has learned so much. The staff and teachers are fabulous and truly care about our daughter. The school community is fantastic, too, and we love all of the special events (Fall Festival, Trunk or Treat, monthly hikes, etc.) that are offered throughout the year for families to get involved. We are so happy here and hope they expand to include elementary school so she can continue her education at Guidepost Sterling!"
"We had registered our son in kindergarten with the hope of being able to start him there too. After initial positive progress, we unfortunately had to notice the following throughout school: - Teachers inadequately trained - Headmaster fails to put together a positive team - Teachers, with a few exceptions, seemed unmotivated - There were no learning successes for our son - Less emphasis was placed on learning - we hardly received any feedback from the teachers. A test was only carried out once and evaluated with the parents. - No recognizable learning concept compared to other Montessori facilities. - the deposit was not paid out despite timely termination. Even when I asked via email, there was no response. - Playground is great Overall, we had the feeling that the institution was more concerned with income than with imparting knowledge. We cannot recommend the school for this money. But that is our personal opinion and perhaps we have a different view of performance and school behavior."
