"I hate the school. The staff act like they care but they don't. And when we speak up about thing's that happens they make us feel stupidly about it. The staff purposely make us mad and then expected us to not have a problem about it or get mad. If I was person that was thinking about placing my kid here DON'T. as a kid that goes here I will not think it be good idea."

"Edit: This school is actually garbage. They basically teach your kids under your grade level, which I'm very upset about. They also say a certain topic is the only "intelligent" topic? Really? (There's tons on topics out there that can be discussed.) I advise you stay away from this garbage as possible! I hope this school changes its ways... Another edit: they also try their hardest to get your kid to stay, even if the kid is doing perfectly. They are pretty much liars and the school should start hiring new staff or checking up with the students."

"As of 2021 I had gone to this school and it really is excellent! The staff is amazing and so supportive! My only complaint is that as someone with high functioning Autism the work was not challenging enough! The most amazing part is how they helped me transfer back into public school! They were very helpful with me trying to achieve my goal! The staff truly are very supportive and understanding! I have very great memories of this school and wish that other non public placements could learn from them because this school is amazing!"

"I went there in 1989-91 and it was a great school, even for kids as bad as I was back then. My favorite teachers were... Mr. Prodey, Mrs Barksdale/Freeman( before and after she married Mr Freeman who was a great theacher, but I didn't have), Mr., and Mrz- T, and the list goes on. These were some of the best teachers i ever had. They would let me get a group of students together to put on a live rock concert in the gym on the stage, and they would sometimes even bring in the whole school to watch. There were a lot of musicians for staff there too... Including Lenny the custodian that played drums like the best jazz Kats in the biz. I had a great experience at The Hannah More Academy, and I would like to thank every one of those great teachers for everything they did for me in my years there!!"

"I actually graduated from here in 2009. Back then it was a good school for children with emotional disorders and other mental health issues. I for one had clinical depression and besides helping make sure I graduated highschool with a full diploma they also taught me the value of taking control of the treatment of my depression. That was nearly 7 years ago though. Reading reviews here and hearing word of mouth from other Alum the stories coming from the school, it has changed for the worse. First off Sheppard Pratt seems to have acquired the school. I have first hand experience with Sheppard Pratt as a juvenile and I can tell you this is not good news. They have no regard for the physical or mental health of juveniles in their care. That company only cares about profit. It is alarming as not only do they seem to be pursuing a monopoly on schools and residential centers in the state of Maryland geared towards treating the mental health of juveniles, the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygene seems to have made no moves to stop them. Second after taking over many good teachers and counselors were fired. These were people with a success record of helping the kids there so I can only suspect they were fired for refusing to test drugs on the children or diagnose them with disorders they do not suffer from to justify keeping thm in their care longer or other things such as that. Thats why I must say if you have a kid there or in any Sheppard Pratt affiliated facility, get them out of there now. If you are considering putting your kid in one of these facilities or schools then don't. You are better sending your kid out of state because by entrusting your child to any Sheppard Pratt affiliate you are condemning them to abuse, being used as a test subject for medication they may not need, and your child will be forever scarred and afraid to seek help for his or her mental health issues. The only reason I was successful after graduating Hanna Moore was because I graduated before it had any involvement with Sheppard Pratt."
