About Us
Beginnings Montessori School, located at 15 North Smallwood Street in Cumberland, Maryland, is a non-profit, secular Montessori institution dedicated to honoring the unique potential of each child. Our community of educators, parents, and students work together to foster independence, collaboration, service to others, and a love of learning.
We offer private early childhood and elementary education for children aged 3 through 12 years old. Our goal is to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment that supports mental, social, and emotional growth. In our Montessori classrooms, students have the opportunity to learn at their own pace and according to their individual needs and capabilities.
Our primary students engage with hands-on, self-correcting Montessori materials that encourage exploration and discovery. Kindergarteners serve as leaders and mentors to younger students, fostering a sense of responsibility and leadership.
Our elementary program consists of lower and upper elementary classrooms, catering to students aged 6-9 and 9-12 respectively. Beginnings Montessori School is operated by the Allegany Association for Childhood Education, Inc., a non-profit organization with a long-standing commitment to providing quality education for children in the community since 1978.
