About the Marshall County Animal Shelter
The Marshall County Animal Shelter, located at 37 Animal Shelter Drive in Moundsville, West Virginia, is dedicated to preventing the overpopulation of dogs and cats in the community through education on responsible pet ownership. The shelter provides a clean and stress-free temporary home for needy animals and offers spay and neuter services through the Tiffany Dlesk Spay/Neuter Clinic. Reviews of Marshall County Animal Shelter
"They were so lovely when we got our kitten! Now my son has a furry little best friend."
"I adopted my kitty Tito here yesterday. All of the cats were wonderful and they have a cat room where a lot of them live. All of the cats seemed to be in a good health, well fed and they seemed happy. The staff was also awesome and answered any questions I had about the kitties. My experience here was great and if I plan to adopt again in the future, this is where I’ll do it."
"This is a great place to go if you love animals. The day room with the cats is amazing if you love to play with all sorts of cats and the outside areas where you can play with the dogs is awesome as well. The staff here are so helpful with everything including the adoption process and getting all the necessity items a first time pet owner needs. And dot be afraid to ask any questions the staff love to help fist time owners with almost everything they can."
"I adopted Buddy, my golden retriever mix, from this shelter in June of 2018. Lauren was the director at the time, staff were wonderful, kind, and very helpful. Adopting Buddy was a great experience and I knew if I wanted to adopt again I would go here to do it. Today, I tried to adopt a dog and was treated horribly by staff, specifically a "volunteer" named Michelle. When I asked to speak to the director she stated "you can report me to the director but I'm a volunteer and I don't matter'. My application was denied because she claimed my dog was not neutered. I reminded her that my dog was adopted from Marshall County Shelter and he was neutered at the Dlesk Clinic, as this was something that was mandatory in order for my adoption to be finalized and I included this info in my application. I am still in shock of how poorly I was treated. Within an hour, Michelle called me back to tell me that my application had now been approved and that the dog I had applied for was "just adopted" but I can come to the shelter asap to pick out another one and continued to be extremely pushy with me. I declined as this was such an emotionally draining process for me and I was so upset. I feel so bad for the animals that miss out on the opportunity to be adopted into good homes because of rude and incompetent staff. Very sad that is the people that they chose to advocate for their animals. A true disgrace. But no matter how bad it was, I will pursue adopting again when the time is right. The animals that end up there should not be punished for the horrible staff this place has."
"Excellent experience. Every staff and volunteer we encountered were exceptionally helpful, gave us lots of information and helped us make the right decision. They are informed of the animals needs and really treat them well. Very clean inside and out. Really impressed with the amount of vet care the dogs and cats receive before they are adopted to a home, especially considering the reasonable adoption fee. Adoption applications are thoroughly checked to make sure animals are being adopted to the best home. We are absolutely in love with our new family member and couldn’t be happier! Highly recommend MCAS."
