"This morning I came in at 6:55am for a 7am bone density test, it was originally scheduled for later but I received a call late yesterday asking if I could come in earlier. I get here and am told the tech is not here because she stayed out late partying. It’s suggested I reschedule for another day. After just spending $25 on Lyft I seek another alternative. I wait because I’m told a new tech comes in at 9am. So here I sit WAITING!!!!!!!"
"I did not run into the same issues many others had with this provider. Scheduling the appointment and getting the screenings done was not an issue and everything did go generally smoothly. What I did take issue with is the radiological reports themselves, which were incredibly rudimentary and lacking in detail. Just a few conclusory sentences and basic findings (measurements and “no abnormalities”). Some might say those reports are normal or standard, but they aren’t. Not for lack of talent or qualifications, but rather it was apparent that this provider network deals with extremely high volumes of patients which likely pressures practitioners to prioritize quantity over quality. That is unacceptable, especially for a field like Radiology, which requires time - even the most subtle abnormalities can be life changing. I ended up getting a second opinion from a company and paid out of pocket. The difference was staggering and actually gave me peace of mind that the findings were accurate and complete. I could not get that with this provider unfortunately. Updated Review - I changed my review after Medstar called me to discuss it. They were apologetic and wanted to improve. It was a good gesture and I appreciate the effort so I increased my rating to 4/5 stars."
"DO NOT GO HERE — I can’t believe the experience . I was referred here by a MedStar specialist NP for one scan, but I’m never coming back here. This place is a nightmare. 1) Scheduling - they were supposed to be in touch once they received the order but I’m the one that called and kept calling and left SO many voicemails. For a radiology order I received on May 1st, I didn’t get a call back from this radiology department to schedule until the 1st week of June. A WHOLE month to get a call back. Then they tell me their only appointment is on the LAST day of June. So I waited TWO MONTHS for one scan I needed badly. Cool. 2) Prep - for my scan I had to drink a liter of water an hour before my 10am appointment without emptying my bladder. I wasn’t seen until 11AM so it’s needless to say how UNCOMFORTABLE it was to sit with a full bladder for 2 hours. 3) Check in - Checking in was AWFUL. I asked the scheduler ahead of time on the phone if I needed to bring anything with me like a lab order. They said NO. Then on the day of my appointment, the receptionist for the radiology suite asked why I didn’t bring my lab order with me. ??? The scheduler told me it was already in the system so that’s why. She told me to “ next time make sure to bring the order with you because people will tell you it’s in the system when it’s not “. Why tell me that then? Get on the same page…unbelievable. 4) Waiting - Like I said, waited 2 hours with a full bladder. No Medstar employee I interacted with during this visit was nice or kind. Most likely heavily understaffed… THE WORST PART is this place is set up like the MVA. You’re given a ticket to be called to do your check in. Wait. Then you’re allowed to check in which is confirming your insurance basically (that they already have in their systems). Then you’re given the same ticket. Wait. You can’t go in for your scan until your ticket is called.. This is awful. Parking is also $5 MINIMUM in the garage. The only reason I gave a star were for the actual medical professionals. They were kind but.. Once again, do NOT come here if you can avoid it. For those that can’t, good luck."
"Had an MRI scheduled for 05/12/2023 at the MedStar Lafayette Centre location. I just received a call from them stating that they did not have the equipment needed to perform the procedure needed. I have had this appointment booked for almost THREE WEEKS and only the day before do I receive this call. This is unacceptable. When I pointed out that it's absurd that I was contacted the day before my MRI, I was told that the note said I should go to Washington and not Lafayette. YOUR TEAM called ME to schedule the MRI, not the other way around; if I was the one that was called to make an appointment, I shouldn't have to double check that it was the right location that the appointment was made with. Absolute failure of a location."
"Terrible communication and rude staff. My appointment was at 7:30am but online it says the office opens at 8am so I was confused already about when to get there. I ended up being 10mins late (confusing parking and no signs telling me where to go when I got there). When I arrive they tell me I should’ve been there 30 mins early and that I’ll have to wait an hour if I want to get the MRI. But NO ONE told me that until I actually arrrived at the appointment. There is no service in the building and I didn’t bring a book so no way I was going to be miss work to wait for this appointment. The staff were unapologetic and have zero bedside manner. Extremely rude and no empathy or understanding. MedStar seems to be consistently bad and unorganized."
