Armed with nothing but his trusty tools and a can-do attitude that would make a motivational poster jealous, Reuben kicked the snowstorm's butt to get to our water heater on time. He wasn't just on time, he was like a superhero who heard our water heater's cry for help. Once inside, he dove into the heart of our water heater like it was a damsel in distress. He inspected it, changed its filters, and flushed it out with the skill of a plumbing ninja. I half-expected him to give it CPR and bring it back to life like in a dramatic medical drama. But the real showstopper was Reuben himself, a guy so cheerful and friendly, you'd think he'd just won the lottery. He made plumbing talk sound like stand-up comedy, and I'm pretty sure our water heater even chuckled a few times. In the end, Reuben didn't just fix our water heater; he warmed our hearts (and our water) on a snowy day. This guy's not just a plumber; he's a legend, a hero in a utility belt. If plumbing had a hall of fame, Reuben's face would be on a plaque, smiling that awesome smile of his. So here's to you, Reuben, savior of showers and defender of decent water pressure! "Called this company to check out my water heater. I kept having to reset it so I guessed it was a bad thermostat. 2 guys came to check it out. Tested it and sure enough, bad thermostat. Thermostat costs about $20.00, cool. Then he explains that when one goes bad the other usually does also so he asks if I want to do that one. No problem, $20.00 also. With labor, can’t be too bad. He goes and gets the thermostats, screwdriver, brings them in, cuts off the power and before he starts tells me it’s gonna be $740.00! I tell him STOP! Puts the plates back on and I ask for a breakdown of the cost. He goes to his van and comes back with 3 estimates. I ask him to email them. I get 1 estimate for replacement of the entire unit, 1 estimate for replacement of a shower part for $430.00 (he told me that to save some money, I could purchase it at Home Depot for $35.00) and I have yet to receive the estimate for the 2 thermostats. So we call the company. The manager explains that the $740.00 estimate was because if the thermostats goes bad the other usually does and that if those go bad the heating elements sometimes go bad and to replace the heating elements the system would have to be drained and that along with that the whole wiring system would have to be replaced and that’s what the extra charge was for. For things not broken yet. He stated that he was just trying to save me from extra service charges down the road in case they needed to come back and actually have to fix the second thermostat and both the elements if they went bad. I have read several ratings and it seems that each time a bad one is written it’s, we need to do better training or the whole story wasn’t told or something like that and I’m sure this is how this one will be explained away. I just wanted to let people know that when these guys come out and you hear this kind of talk, ask questions, find out what’s going on, get things in writing. Sometimes the only way to get honesty is to make people honest. I STILL have not gotten a breakdown of the problem the tech was gonna fix with a $20.00 thermostat and a screwdriver."
