Reviews of Slippery Rock Disc Golf Course
"Overall great course, very under rated. Yes, you will be walking quite a bit to play all 18. Course length is a little over 9,000 feet from the gold tees and the distance from one tee to the next are pretty far and hilly, but great exercise! They held the PDGA professional disc golf world championships at SRU in 2015. Amazingly, most professionals finished with par, which proves this is a difficult course. I’ve played this course EVERY single day for the past year, sometimes twice. So I’ve played all 18 at a minimum, 300 times. The first 6 holes start on campus and the remaining 7-18 are more secluded starting behind residential building F. Hole #1 (par 3) #2 (par 3) #3 (par 3) #4 (par 4) #5 (par 4) #6 (par 4) #7 (par 5) #8 (par 3) #9 (par 3) #10 (par 3) #11 (par 5) #12 (par 4) #13 (par 4) #14 (par 3) #15 (par 5) #16 (par 3) #17 (par 4) and hole 18, (par 3). There is a perfect combination of long and short/technical holes. I’ve read some complaints regarding losing discs, yes I’ve lost dozens of discs. But, compared to other courses this is actually my favorite for not losing any discs. Most of the holes are very open and offer little chance to lose a disc. While you still may lose a disc, your chances are lower compared to other courses. On the other hand, your feet are likely to get wet especially on hole 5 and 12, so wear waterproof shoes if you own them. This course forces you to throw forearm, backhand, uphill, downhill, through trees, you name it. I would highly recommend playing this course."
"I've run at least 9 holes on this course 15+ times. This is an exceptionally well kept and flexible course. 3 different tee options on all 18 holes to pick your difficulty. Good diversity of challenge across the course from easy wide open, short holes to tree tunnels to uphill par 5s. Be aware though, as a beginner, you will have to traipse through many patches of dense underbrush to find errant discs. Also, you may want to skip hole 4 if you aren't interested in a disc-retrieving swim, as it is adjacent to East Lake for several hundred feet. Overall a wonderful experience every time I run it."
"I graduated from this school 20 years ago so it's fun to play a championship course there. This is a direct counter to some of the day in the woods courses around town. This is a crusher's dream. Most holes let you just wind it out, while still requiring the right placements. I played the Gold course, which is definitely tough, but I liked the change of pace. There is a lot of opportunity to get wet here, or find OB"
"Great course, played here for the ironwood open. 3 tee's some natural, no concrete"
"Could not find the tees and holes worth a hoot we started on 4 and only found 5 and 6 and muddy as well as goose poop but I can understand that. Was not the best for my shoes tho"
