"This location can be confusing because it's actually two different parcels with one set of trails. (NB: This is NOT the Alexauken Creek WMA on SR 173.) The first is this one, the state WMA accessible at the Rocktown-Lambertville Road lot (unpaved). The other is the Pryde segment of the D&R Greenway (open space)-a working farm with limited public access, mainly along the edges of farm fields, accessible at Gulick Road (limited parking at signboard). The WMA segment includes the woods along the creek banks and the abandoned farmstead and farmhouse. To access the trails from the Rocktown Road lot follow the unblazed but mown path to the edge of the woods, where it intersects the old (paved) farm driveway. Blazing can be erratic, and in the farm section is on plastic uprights. Not at all strenuous, and the only places where a little caution is required are around the farmhouse, the pond (trail in poor shape/slippery here) and in the fields, owing to plowing/ruts (can be hard on ankles). Overall a perfectly fine place for a ramble, and with the varied landscape and abandoned house, I'd think it a good place to take someone under, say, 14. Older, experienced walkers may find other locations more rewarding. Info and trail map at link, current as of Dec. 2023."
"Quiet little creek, trail, the abandoned homesite area is pretty interesting. My kids like this one."
"Noon hike here 1/1/21. Nice 2 hour hike through mature woods, along the Alexauken Creek. Interesting old house and Spring house ruins. Some logging going on makes the trail hard to follow in spots. Also saw I believe a Gray Fox trotting through the woods across the creek."
"So weird. I parked here and didn't see any clearly marked paths. Now that I'm reading other reviews, I must have missed something? The path I took led me to the Deer Blind on the creek. In early spring, it was muddy and had a lot of sticker bushes. Trail maintenance mediocre. Took me about fifteen minutes to walk to the water. Very peaceful. The only sounds I heard were water, planes, and birds. Might return to find the marked paths. Near S Hunterdon HS"
"From the start, I knew this was going to be a confusing hike. I parked and walked through what basically felt like a swamp and had no idea if I was in the right place. Once you get to the woods, the pink ties on the trees take you to the main path. There are three different trails you can follow once you get down there. There's a burnt orange colored trail, a white trail, and a red trail. I found the burnt orange trail to lead to a dead end. The white trail and red trail eventually combined, but they were definitely worth the hike. Be careful when the white trail has you cross over the river it's definitely slippery. Otherwise it was a beautiful hike and nice to be near the water."
