Reviews of Hornbecks Trail
"Not my personal favorite waterfall in the DWGNRA but it has some charm. The walk back to the falls is very easy. If you're sure footed and feeling brave, you can go up the side to get to the upper trail. It used to be a proper trail that has since got washed out. The upper trail is much more rugged and an adventure. The waterfalls above ARE some of my favorites in the DWGNRA."
"This is a very pleasant 1.0 mile hike/walk easy enough for all, even children. The path is groomed with small gravel (wide & flat) half the way to the falls. There's several water crossings atop well constructed bridges & walkways. Once you cross over the metal-creaky bridge the path becomes a trail until you reach the falls. The falls are wonderful. Well worth seeing. Some people may hope to maneuver around the lower falls in an attempt to hike a more adventurous way to the upper falls. I say save the effort and drive to the Upper Falls TH on Emory Rd past PEEC and hike down to it."
"Got to enjoy this beautiful trail yesterday. It was unexpectedly amazing. The autumn leaves made the whole place feel like a fairy tale and the weather was just perfect. It is approximately 3.7 miles long with some areas being a bit difficult if you have back or knee problems but otherwise, it was perfect. It is great for those enthusiasts photographers like me. We went on a Saturday and did get to see a few couples enjoying the trail, but pretty empty otherwise. I did not see a restroom. But am not sure if maybe the top road had one. So go before you go, just in case, lol. Make sure your footwear grips to the ground well as the leaves on the path can be a bit slippery. Definitely a place worth checking out if you enjoy trails. It reminded me of the waterfalls in the Dominican Republic."
"Nice easy trail. At the end very nice waterfall. The parking lot is on the right if you are driving toward Milford, the road to the parking lot is very narrow, not too long but only one car could be on it."
"The trailhead is about a mile or so north of what google maps indicates. Parking for about 6-7 cars. About 1.2 miles each way. Awesome wooden log bridges on the way. Kids enjoyed walking down to the stream. Amazing vistas. Can’t wait to see this in the fall. Definitely a hidden gem in this area."
