Reviews of Five Mile Woods
"This wooded area in Bucks County on Big Oak Road in Yardley is a great place for a shaded walk on those hotter and humid days. Try to go during a dry spell because it can get very muddy in some spots. The puddles hang around longer due to a lack of sunlight to help dry them out. Also a great place to walk your dog for the same above mentioned reason of the kool shadiness. They have a headquarters I believe but it was closed when I was there. There is also a community billboard. I would check online before you go if you are interested in more info. You could also check with Friends of Five Mile Woods. Happy Trails to you!!"
"This has some basic trails. I saw this on the trail app. It's great for those entry level explorers. About 2 miles or so ....great for an evening walk"
"I've been going here off and on since 2009, and it's always a great option to help get in shape. The trails are varied and interesting, and if you take the outermost loop (keep turning to the right at every possibility), it's a 3-mile loop. The trails are nice for hiking or running, but as has been alluded to in other reviews, the trails can get quite muddy when it's been raining a lot. The muddiest portions tend to be in the first 1/4-1/3 mile of the main trail, in a large portion of the Evergreen trail, as well as just before the boardwalk section if you're northbound on the Heath trail. Bring an old pair of shoes for any muddy days. Also note that there are points on in the trails where either roots or stones are prevalent, so keep an eye on your footing if you're running. I love the place, though, have seen some nice wildlife, and it's a nice place for a family stroll. The trails aren't very wide, though, so most of the time, you'll be either two abreast or single file. Dogs are also not allowed, so that can be either a bonus or a hinderance, depending on your perspective. There are a few more trees down across the trail than in previous years, but the largest trees have been removed, and they've done repair work on the bridges to replace older/missing boards, plus they've improved some of the boardwalk areas in the swamp section, to make it a bit cleaner to traverse. Great place. I've recommended to a lot of people, and hope it keeps operating for years to come."
"Five Mile Woods offers a nice loop that runs by a creek. It's not too challenging to bring young children, but it does get a bit muddy and swampy in places. They've built some (very rustic) board walks to help, but you still might want to pack another pair of shoes for when you get back to the car."
"Unfortunately the pictures and people’s reviews are misleading. This is NOT a place to explore and enjoy the outdoors. You’ll see boards not nailed in, trails not taken care of and more importantly not dog friendly. I would recommend going somewhere else."
