Reviews of D&R Canal Towpath Ride - Frenchtown
"Frenchtown North to Easton on the PA side is excellent. Some places are a little narrow and 2 sections were "closed" (bridge out and under repair), both were passable. Beautiful and relatively quiet for such a warm fall day. Highly recommend this route, it's about 35 miles round trip. Parking in Frenchtown was surprisingly easy."
"Beautiful trail not many places to park. After 8 miles it felt repetitive . The NJ is well kept, the PA is more scenic but not as well kept"
"This is our favorite trail for biking! Beautiful trail with free parking near lambertville area! You can ride it upto bull's island! It's a cute small place to hang out by the water ! After the biking, can enjoy brunch/lunch in New Hope/Lambertville area!"
"I ride this trail all the time. Close to my home. Great views of the Delaware regardless of start and stop spots. Nice towns you pass through on the way. Frenchtown, Stockton, Lambertville & more. Good for long or short rides (or walks). Sometimes a little crowded, but to be expected. Probably the time of year, but late in the day yesterday we kept riding through patches of small white flying bugs...annoying. I don't think there is much you can do about that. Ate & inhaled a few, but other than that very nice trail and enjoyable ride always."
"My wife and I have been on this trail several times and we like it a lot. On this last bike ride, we parked in Frenchtown and rode our bikes to Lambertville, where we had lunch and took a walk around town. After that, we rode our bikes back to Frenchtown. Other times we parked at Bull’s Island, crossed the bridge into PA, rode our bikes down to New Hope, PA, had lunch at New Hope, crossed the bridge to Lambertville, NJ, had some drinks in NJ, then rode our bikes back to Bull’s Island. The trails are flat but the difference we found on the PA side is that parts of the trail are very narrow and there are low-overhead bridges in the trail. So we’ve stayed on the NJ side as it’s much wider. There’s parking in several areas but on nice weekends, be sure to arrive early enough. The park’s website has a lot of info."
