Reviews of McDade Trail
"This trail is long, which means one is inclined to press for the distance. If you walk slow and are mindful, you don’t need to walk as far. My first time thru I hiked the entire trail (in segments). My best hikes here have been the ones where i don’t have expectations on time or distance."
"This is a long trail, but there is a free shuttle that runs in the summer during the weekends and holidays. Shuttle can take 2-4 bikes via a top tube rack so mountain bikes are tricky to mount but doable. Shuttle has trailer for Kayaks and of course plenty of seats for hikers as well. No matter which direction you start there are hill climbs, we took a shuttle from Milford to Hialeah (unscheduled stop on the road) trailhead, about 200 yards from the road. Trail is loose, rocky gravel when accounting for varying terrain, climbs and many bridge transitions (over 20 bridges), wide tires and mountain bike low gearing is what I would recommend. There are 2 steep downhills heading from Hialeah that have speed bumps on them to watch out for as they can throw you off balance. Also a map is required because trail winds through parking lots and parks and next section is not always straight forward."
"We picked up this trail by Milford Beach. We hiked 2.5 out and back. It’s a wide, gravel trail. Accessible and easy. Took a cut through to the river, very peaceful and beautiful."
"Great spot for a bike ride! A little more hilly than I expected (near the Bushkill village area.) I did about a 6 mile stretch, 12 total. Hoping to ride the entire trail before the end of the summer. Pretty quiet on a Thursday afternoon, only saw a couple people on the trail outside of access areas. Lots of wildlife."
"I LOVE this trail. It’s great for taking a walk, run, stroll, or biking. I believe people even walk their dogs on this path. It’s got some awesome scenery and I’ve never felt like I was in danger while running on this trail."
