"Mismanaged. Do not trust that the site you book will be the site you get. A group of us booked sites next to one another. We all have small children and wanted to camp next to one another for convenience. Once we arrived to the campground we were notified that all of our campsites had been recently converted to handicapped-only and we were relocated to random leftover sites scattered all over the campground. The sites we were relocated to were most likely still available because of how small, cramped, and terribly maintained they were with zero access to Mongaup pond (you'd be surprised but Mongaup pond is a big reason when we decided to go to Mongaup pond). We made attempts to move to vacant sites that we saw were available online, but no one at the front desk knew how to relocate us to a different sites.... Which is odd cause the entire issue was caused by them relocating us in the first place. The front desk kept trying to contact a manager that apparently never showed up to work that weekend. We never received new sites. We never were refunded any money for the relocation. On top of all that, the good sites with great access to the water remained vacant the entire time we were there. They've taken their best sites and guaranteed they'll go unoccupied for the majority of the season. Avoid this campground until they change their inept management who didnt even bother coming to work."
"We're came out here years ago. Decided to try it again. Some things haven't changed, like the rain, common water faucet, and the rain. No electricity on campsite, but not really an issue. Car alarms going off and noise way after 10pm was a nuisance, but not much anyone can do about that. No showers in the bathrooms within the loops. Showers are in the bathhouse near the swimming area. Need to hit a button every five seconds to get hot water. A necessary control, I assume. A nice concrete pit for camp fire and cooking. And, of course, it rains once in a while. Streams are beautiful afterwards."
"This is a beautiful, tranquil camp ground. Not sure why, but it is 20 degrees cooler than NYC even though it's only around 2 hrs drive from it. Really great if you want to chill in the hot summer. The facilities are clean and complete. Close bathrooms, shower available in front, and clean/well kept fire pit. Just make sure you are well prepared. It is freezing at night. Bring an air mattress or pad of some sort because the ground is very bumpy with pebbles."
"We had a 2 week reservation for site 111 and an emergency kept us from arriving on time. I called Reserve America and was told it was too late to change my reservation since it was my arrival date. Reserve America continued to classify our reservation as "current" and we received NO notification that it was canceled, but was told upon arrival that any reservation is automatically canceled after 48 hours past the start of a reservation if not occupied "per the policy posted on the website" I have been unable to find this on Reserve Americas site. The site had supposedly been rebooked, we were told we could not book another at the office and were turned away with a shrug from the attendant. If I've paid to reserve a site for 2 weeks, I should have access to that site for 2 weeks regardless of whether I show up on time or not."
"A good ride away from town, cell service cuts off there. We did find the 2 Old School Payphones. Site was right on waters edge and large. There were vegetation buffers between sites so we didn't feel on top of the groups on either side of us."
