"Excellent experience. We've been here a few times now, and we will always be back. The customer service is spot on, and the camp grounds are well maintained. The island is ..well, a treasure! A few suggestions: if using a lean to, bring a bug net. If booking a tent, keep in mind that the latrines for the tent spots are a little bit of a walk away, so maybe not good synergy if camping with kids. But, the one tent site on the far end of the island (its labeled as the stockade on the map) has an amazing sunrise vibe and is next to the best swimming spot. :) Definitely a "couples" sort of site. Past that, this was a great place to take the family. Thanks for such a good time!"
"My husband and I spent this past weekend on Treasure Island. We had a BLAST!!!! When you first arrive, you will be greeted by a member of the TIO team. Everyone we met, from Stephanie, Nathan, to Uncle John etc were so helpful and kind. We unpacked our gear near the dock, got on the barge to cross the river to the island (only about a 2 minute ride), took an ATV to our campsite and unpacked! For reference, we packed for a 2 night stay: A medium-sized fan, 2 sleeping bags, 1 twin air mattress (I have a bad back and need more support), a 1 gallon jug of water (we didn't know they give you a 5 gallon jug!), 1 waterproof tarp, 2 small duffel bags and 3 pillows. Nathan is awesome and will give you a Jackery power pack to charge up your devices. We used it to pump up our air mattress, keep the fan flowing for about 5 hours (we had it on high, next time we would do low setting to keep it on longer!). I also brought a set of string lights, which lit up our tent so nicely! We picked a canvas tent to stay in, which we were very glad we did because our first night there we had a wicked storm. It was so relaxing and our tent sure was waterproof! The sites are large, with a fire pit ring, a propane gas tank, and we opted to rent the canoe for our stay but the barge back and forth was actually easiest! The latrine is not a far walk at all from the campsite. We went tubing on our second day. It took us about 3 hours down the river, while stopping for a hot dog at the Hot Dog Man (pricey but worth the novelty). Then we pulled over on a bank for a little bit since it was so nice out. The river had a good amount of people floating but we had plenttttyyy of room around us. We brought a cooler, for which Nathan gave us a separate float just to hold that stuff, some water bottles, and a speaker. We ended up buying a neat little shower contraption from Amazon. It's a big bag you fill with water and it has a spout. We hung it from a tree branch and it worked PERFECTLY. We each took 2 showers, filling it between each shower. If you are considering a quick getaway, this is the one! They couldn't be nicer. We felt safe and had a ton of fun. Book it!"
"Great location, great accommodations, and great service. Treasure Island is a unique place where you can camp on an island and tour an historic site of an old boys scouts camp. The campground provided shuttle service not only to and from the island but also to boat launches in the area. Nathan provided exceptional service as well as a wealth of knowledge. The campsites are massive and the lean-to's, latrines are well maintained. We were provided backyard games at the field and water upon request. Exploring the island let alone was fun. Our only complaint would be price, as other campgrounds in the area provide more accommodations for less, however, it is hard to put a price on island camping on a beautiful river."
"Me and my husband went for a River tubing and island tour yesterday. Check in times are in between 10am and 2pm. We checked in at 2pm. It’s an hour and a half drive away from where we live. We were welcomed by Nathan and drove us to our starting point. He gave us instructions to where we must float during the tubing and which side of the island we get off. It’s our first time to try tubing in the area and we did enjoy ourselves! We had our small cooler with us packed with ready to eat snacks and drinks. The river is peaceful and tubing from the bridge all the way to the island is one of the best experience I have this year. Nathan gave us a tour of the island before we returned back to our car. It’s a nice area where we can also camp for a minimum of two days. We played cornhole too which anyone can enjoy while touring the island. The overall experience is more than just 5 stars. Thank you Nathan and Treasure Island Outfitters for an awesome experience!"
