"The Delaware County side of John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge has an extensive wetland area accessible through the Tinicum Park parking lot. In summer, Willow Flycatchers, Warbling Vireos, Baltimore Orioles, Great Blue Herons, and Bald Eagles can be seen frequently since they breed in the refuge. Occasionally, the secretive Least Bittern and Sora will vocalize through the wetlands. In the colder months, many ducks such as Northern Pintail, American Wigeon, Hooded Merganser, Ring-necked Duck, Gadwall, Mallard, and American Black Duck frequent the water especially around Hoy’s Pond. Great place for a walk although the location floods easily and paths are dirt and many tree roots obstruct the path. Biking not recommended."
"This is a Diamond in the rough so close to PHL & the south Philly projects. Lots of water fowl to observe from observation towers, decent walking trails. Improved parking lot & 1 overflow unimproved lot."
"Beautiful, well maintained trails."
"The amount of Wildlife at this section of the John Heinz Wildlife Park is amazing, however half of my 3 mile walk was next to a busy highway. I would definitely give this hike a chance, but if you want to be fully absorbed in nature I recommend the boardwalk lake side of the park."
"This is the South end of John Heinz park. This end tends to be quieter, usually runners or people looking for a longer walk start down here, or fisherman. Some of the trails run along the highway, but others are on the water and are very pretty. Great for an 8 mile run it for a quiet walk."
