"Beautiful, fascinating, full of history... And wayyyy too many people. My dog and I abandoned the trail after about a mile; there were just too many other people there for me. But it's very easy to navigate. Do plan on multiple primitive stream crossings. Waterproof hiking boots were fine with the water very low, but in spring I'd probably bring another option. It'd be beautiful here in winter, too. I may go back when there's snow on the ground."

"Not a state park. It is public hunting land. Bought and payed for by hunter dollars. You are welcome here but need to wear fluorescent orange during hunting season even if you are just hiking. It is the law and will help keep you safe. While bear hunting there last season I saw several hikers wearing black outfits hiking the trails. Not safe when hunters are looking to shoot a BLACK bear. Please wise up and please take your trash with you when you leave."

"This place is full of beautiful surprises. The ruins are fun to see and speculate on but there is so much more! Just a short walk beyond the ruins is a staircase up the gorge wall. I don't yet know where it leads. If you choose to continue along the stream (you will have to continually cross the stream back and forth to stay on the path) about a mile beyond the ruins the waterfalls begin. I lost count of how many. I also think I stopped before I found them all! The trail is not marked and it is hike at your own risk but, I can't wait to come back to this trail in the fall for all the colors.
