"AWESOME These folks are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the areas fishing. The guides Really know their stuff and treat you as family. Best experience I've ever had and I can't wait to go again. Charley is honest and patient. I spoke to some folks staying there and they said it was a wonderful experience. Their guides looked after them and were so helpful. Everyone caught fish and we all have plans to return. Thanks for being there to teach the rest of us."
"Went on a full day wading trip with Charlie. What a great guy, and a beautiful river! As the Savage is a pretty technical river, Charlie helped me with my technique and taught me a few things that I will use forever. I highly recommend, and will give them a call when I am back in the area."
"Stooped in this fly shop for the first time the other day. What a terrific place! I met Charlie, who was working there and he was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I enjoyed talking with him as he shared information about hatches, flys, and places to fish on the river. Being new to fly fishing, it was a real blessing to have met Charlie. He gave me so much great info and made me feel welcome, which I truly appreciated. I highly recommend them as a fly shop."
"Lets see, my experience so far.... Lets start off with the fact that we were booked for one cabin, and they overbooked that cabin. So they moved us to a different cabin. Since we went into the basement of that cabin, we were charged extra. (We went into the basement before they had informed us there will be a charge for it). Whatever, stuff happens, I paid it happily and purchased a jacket out of the fly shop. The day we leave, my buddy took an hour too long to pack up, so we left an hour after the 9AM checkout. Because of me rushing to get everyone out, to make Mike happy, I had forgotten a full fly rod and part of another. I called him on the way home letting him know, texted his number right after we got off the phone with my address and to send me the shipping bill. 2 weeks later, no response. I send an email, no response after 2 days, so I left a voicemail voicing my frustration, because I can't fish without my stuff, and had no update. Since I left a voicemail, he is holding all of my Fly Fishing gear hostage, and giving it away if I can't find a way to get days off approved to get to this cabin. This started as a decent experience, other than the charge for them messing up, and has turned into the worst Fly Fishing experience I have ever had. If you are going to the Savage River, I would recommend elsewhere. At first the owner was a nice guy, but it is clear he is childish at heart. I just can't even believe I am in this situation. I do understand its my fault for forgetting my stuff, but you would think the guy who forgot he booked something and then booked us for it would have some sympathy for forgetfulness."
"Great place to stay while fishing the Upper branch of the Potomac and the Savage River, one of Maryland's premier tailwater trout streams. The Savage is right outside your door, in fact. Our cabin (styled "Brownie") was stylishly appointed and comfortable with two bedrooms and baths and a third sleeping nook upstairs (it is not, as we had expected, a three bedroom). You need to bring your own food and do your own housework, but everything you need to accomplish this is provided. A well equipped fly shop is on the premises and the resident pro is welcoming and informative."
