"11032023: First, some historical context. Before Martin Park was Martin Park, my friends and I would walk down the then non-existent path at the time to fish the small stream that emptied into Chester Creek for wild brown trout. The flow of that stream, diminished now, originates from a spring in the woods at the end of Hitchcock Lane. Careful and very quiet observers of the stream today may find during the Spring brown trout fry under fallen logs, clay bank overhangs, or other shelter debris like tree roots or fallen trees. Good luck. A crisp high-five to Thornbury Township for making and maintaining nature trails. We walked the path to the Darlington Trailhead and back. We saw no garbage, but as a fellow custodian of the park, bring a bag to remove any garbage you may come across. You definitely want to wear boots as you travel further into the park. Some sections are hilly, uneven, and some areas could get damp."
"It is a very beautiful park with plenty of trails. The biggest draw is "the cove," which is a section of Chester Creek that is perfect for relaxing along and dipping in to cool off during the hot summer months. The downside is that it can get crowded there with its popularity among young people."
"This park has a main path that splits into smaller trails leading to water, has plenty of shade along the way, and one picnic table (not sure if there’s more we didn’t run into). Overall a dog friendly place great for walking and fishing."
"Ruby gives Martin Park 5 paws up for a short-ish walk into the woods with spots to wade in the creek. She’s leash reactive so I relish trails less traveled such as this."
"Martin’s Park is definitely the best kept secret of Thornbury Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. This beautiful, quiet and peaceful place is a great place to fish, hike, walk and enjoy nature, or just sit and watch the creek. Dogs are welcome too. Martin's Park is a little piece of heaven here on Earth."
