Reviews of Cenlar FSB
"Background: Purchased a new construction home through our builder in March. We have not even been in the home one year before this issue began. Can you imagine my surprise when I log on to the portal January 2nd (because the 1st was a holiday) to make our mortgage payment and it had been increased by $2200 dollars? In what world does that even seem remotely feasible? I immediately called Cenlar to get to the bottom of it and was told that there was an off cycle tax assessment done on our property. (This isn’t our first homeowner rodeo so we understand that can happen and that the payment may even change by a few dollars year after year and you can pay an escrow shortage in full or over time. But to think that we would go for a mortgage payment being TWENTY TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS more every month is utterly ridiculous.) When I spoke to the Cenlar rep I was told that I had to check with my state (Maryland) because this is what they sent in. Well, I called Maryland and they were on top of it and could break down every dollar and cent to me. And guess what? What Maryland assessed as a $1700 increase, Cenlar recorded as $17,000. How do these errors even exist? I called back and got another Cenlar rep who submitted some kind of paperwork to get things rectified because even he could see this made no sense. My question is, why do I have to spend my valuable time fixing this? Clearly this is an ongoing issue for this company (just read the reviews!) To date, the issue is being worked on but still not rectified. We are going on month two. I decided I’m not spending any more of my time dealing with this headache. I will take it up with Better Business Bureau. How is this company still in business? Things that make you go hmmm…."
"DOUBLE CHECK YOUR ESCROW AND THE TAXES THEY PAY OUT. Most incompetent mortgage company I have ever dealt with. Their errors have nearly caused me to lose my home. They incorrectly paid my taxes which in turn made them incorrectly estimate my escrow which then created problem after problem leading to them saying I was 14k short. They have over paid, under paid, double paid, returned money, taken money back out all within a year. I wonder how many people have lost their homes over their incompetence."
"Wells Fargo was a dream to work with but of course they sold me to Cenlar. All the horror stories are true. I received a tax adjustment bill for November 4Q and was advised I was responsible for paying it. A week after I pay I get an email Cenlar paid and my escrow is also short. My town refunded Corelogic who Cenlar uses as a third party because they received my check first. 2 week refund went to 4-6 weeks. Middle of December I get an update from Cenlar my money should be back in my escrow by Jan 10. Jan 10th comes and goes. I call Cenlar again and they tell me the town refunded me, NOT Corelogic, that someone contacted me in December (same date I spoke with someone) but I didn't answer and he left me a voicemail. I double check with my town, receive the check number and print out stating it was refunded to Corelogic. Was told I'd be called back in 24 hours. Next day I call again. Now I'm told Jan 30th there will be a resolution. Every time I call I get the run around and a promise to be called back in 2-3 days. There's no tax department to physically speak to. They won't allow you to be CC'ed on emails. There's apparently no office to visit in person. I guess everyone works from home which is evident from the dog barking in the background. WHERE IS MY MONEY. I haven't even owned my house for a full year. I can't even fathom what the rest of the life of my loan will be like."
"Awful experience as a first time homeowner. Where do I begin with this company. Each time you call this company, there is a new person. The information given to the borrower is NEVER CONSISTENT. This company has caused my family so much distress due their negligence and miscommunication. We were approved for an assistance program to lower or mortgage and waive the month of August. With lowered payments until January. We paid our lowered amount. The payment was unbeknownst to us not received. October comes, we pay our adjusted amount. The payment was returned to and not even applied to our account.. We never received info by mail or by email that our payments weren’t processed and Cenlar continued to charge us for three months past due.You call them and each person is giving you different information. These people are poorly trained and don’t even know basic vernacular as lender. I will be pursuing a lawsuit with the company for their gross negligence and constant misinformation. They even gave the wrong fax number to send my proof of payment! Now I have a receipt of my cashiers check just floating around with my personal information. Cenlar is a joke."
"Pretty much what every other review has said they 100% play games and have to Be a fraudulent company. I have NEVER dealt with a company this incompetent and or frustrating in all my years as a Realtor. We have been under contract for FIVE months, and for five months they have been stonewalling and or stringing us along by asking us to piecemeal information in the most excruciatingly idiotic slow and inefficient way possible. EVERY time you contact them you would get a different person and if you were lucky you would get contacted back 3 days later but the average was a week or more. Then due to length of time between their requests and lack of response things would “ expire” so we would have to resend the same information over and over and over but with new dates. And JUST when everything was going to be correct they would always need something new. Insult to injury , the house needs way over 100k in repairs just to be habitable and their “appraiser “ appraised it for 150k over value and OVER value for similar homes in diamond condition. We finally got a single point of contact after Five months and after THREE more weeks they are just NOW telling us we need a home path account to submit the offer. They are Doing EVERYTHING possible to delay this deal. It’s been FIVE months and we don’t even have an accepted /counter offer yet. Madness So again either most inept company ever or they are unethical and trying to make the home foreclosure for their own reasons. Either way , do not deal with them."
