"A popular Italian bistro serving good food. A bit cramped but still fun."
"Girasole is our favorite spot for a date night in Shadyside. The small quaint restaurant is always bursting with life. You will leave with a full belly, wanting to come back soon! The staff is always great and helpful with recommendations. Their side salad is second to none. I’ve tried to recreate it at my house and nothing will ever compare. We try to get different dishes each time, if possible: they always have a nice seasonal option. If you aren’t too full after dinner, their cheesecake is delicious!"
"Ate here this evening with my boyfriend and was overall disappointed in the experience. The food was extremely pricy and rather mediocre. Their pasta dishes seem to utilize supermarket-style dried noodles in fairly bland sauces. They taste okay, but are definitely not worth the premium price you're paying for them. The house salad that several have raved about is good but not great-- just a standard house salad. The worst part was the ambiance, which is not at all suitable for the romantic dinner my partner and I had hoped for. The dining room is incredibly small and cramped, with a low ceiling and tables right on top of each other such that you have very little privacy. Voices reverberate so strongly from the stone walls that you have to yell to be heard across a small table for two. To make matters worse, a guitar player with a particularly booming voice entered the restaurant just as we were being seated and started playing and singing so loudly that we had to ask to be reseated outside just to hear each other talk. The one plus here is the service-- extremely prompt and courteous. Our waiter reseated us right away, no questions asked, and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. But between the tacky decorations, inability to make a reservation, and mind-numbing decibel levels inside I can't recommend this restaurant whatsoever and won't be going back."
"Great little restaurant. Very small, but cozy and intimate. Amazing food and seasonal specialties. Wine, beer and cocktails available. And of couse, excellent service and servers. Give it a try. You will not be disappointed! Photo: spinch spaghetti from summer menu, with penne substitution. Yum!"
"Always a delight to eat here. The food is consistently good and often there is some sort of surprise live music. The vibes are always right. On my most recent visit I had the tortellini with spinach, peppers, and goat cheese. House salad is always a win."
