"Winter time is just as good as any other time to visit this place. Now, deep snow makes for a much tougher hike to the overlook, as you may expect. Prepare accordingly. I can't recommend this place enough for nature lovers and sightseeing. The trail does not disappoint. It's a few miles to the point for hikers but also has a clearing so snowmobiles can ride up to that point as well. Now, for the overlook itself. Absolutely stunning view of the Laurel highlands. It offers a 180° view of the highlands from 750 feet above. I will include those photos for this review. Moderate in the snow, easy any other time of the year."
"Snow covered and rocky trail made for a moderate hike. My dog had a great time. We took the side trail to Wolf Rock for a view then finished the loop. We went clockwise."
"One of my favorite trails. The Laurel Mountain trails are super gorgeous and Wild rock doesn't disappoint. We went after a rain and there were only a few muddy spots that could be easily avoided. The trail is visible and easy to follow so you can enjoy the surroundings. The landscape is quite different between the loop and the trail. The loop is full of understory, rhodies and mountain laurels, while the trail is more mossy with not much understory but mats of beautiful ferns. It is quiet and peaceful. The view is gorgeous and the vegetation is lush. The elderberries were dominating with their gorgeous red berries. Careful to snakes, they hide between the rocks so if you have a puppy keep an eye out. It's a 4.3 mile loop and it's easy without steep descents or ascents; the ground is uneven because of the boulders and rocks characteristic of the Laurel Mountain but pretty easy to navigate. We encountered only a group of 4 people but maybe the weather discouraged hikers. There is a big parking lot at the trailhead with a bathroom and several picnic tables with grills. Definitely a trail that I'll like to hike later in Fall, Spring, and Winter too. It took use about 2,5 hours with a mini lunch break at the view. Highly recommended."
"Very rocky but overall nice hike, not too long or short, not too strenuous either. The top view is well worth it!"
"Beautiful area to hike. It's a little over 4 miles round trip, mostly flat. The view is spectacular! I was there on a Saturday morning and only passed three hikers and a group riding bikes. The picnic area is nice with tables and grills. It's also fun to just drive around the mountain roads and enjoy the scenery."
