Reviews of The 404
"We loved the food and the service. Our name was on the table when we arrived wishing was a nice touch. Husband had the filet which he loved."
"Newer restaurant that is now expanding to serving lunch – and soon, brunch as well. While their dinner prices are up there, their lunch prices are quite reasonable – as we found out on a recent visit. The ambience is very nice with tablecloths, and a bottle of water presented when seated. Service was superb on our visit with the single waitress catering to our every request and answering our every question. As soon as we gave our order, a bread plate was delivered with accompaniments. There were two different kinds of bread presented. One appeared to be a semolina bread with sesame seeds, the other a black pepper and cheese bread. The accompaniments included a honey butter, an herb-loaded oil, and a butter with black olives, red pepper chunks and all kinds of other things in there. We liked them all! The lunch menu features salads and sandwiches primarily, but also some more formal dishes if that’s your desire. While we decided to try their Mushroom Melt sandwich and Baked Stuffed Portabella, we saw other tables getting the Chicken Salad Sandwich (in a croissant), several salads, and others getting what we thought were BLTs served on pretzel buns (but, we’re not sure). Our meals were excellent! Flavors were great. The Stuffed Portabella was a huge mushroom that was stuffed with vegetables and had a bread and cheese crust. It was served on a bed of what the restaurant called “roasted vegetables” but tasted like ratatouille without eggplant. This was definitely a hefty portion for one person. Because the mushroom was so thick, it could have used a bit more time in the over, but that is so tricky to judge. The Mushroom Melt was also delicious with its combination of greens, sliced shrooms, and cheeses inside sliced sourdough bread which was then buttered and toasted. This was served with a side of French fries. They were cut thin and seasoned with an herb and salt mixture that included garlic and some other herbs that we could not quite identify. About the only fault that we could find is that the chef has a heavy hand with the salt shaker as all the dishes were much saltier than is to our liking. We would prefer less salt and have those who like more add it at the table. The total cost for the meal was about $20 per person which included the tip. This is not expensive and compares to the prices of the chain restaurants that surround this place – albeit this place offers better food in a much nicer environment! Definitely a place to come to for lunch."
"We were fortunate enough to call and get a last minute reservation. The service was top notch, with Emily and Amanda as our servers. We did not feel rushed. Our appetizer, palette cleanser of lemon sorbet, and our entree were perfectly timed. I had the pork chop, something I never order out, but was glad that I did. My husband had the special, veal parmigiana with risotto. Everything was delicious!. It’s also a BYOB with a minimal corking fee of $10. Highly recommended. We will be returning."
"Delicious homecooked upscale dining in a home setting. Beautiful ambiance. Now serving lunch. The 404 burger changes weekly and they will tell you what it is day of your visit. Reservations highly recommended as place is small and they will write your surname on the table already reserved for you. They also have upstairs and patio dining in better weather. Definitely enjoyed the French onion soup, the salmon and Brussel sprouts combo and also the crabcake sandwich. All sandwiches come with French fries. Good portion sizes. Had dessert which was freshly made that was a delicious lemon raspberry cake. For some reason we didn't get any bread but will remember to ask for it next time. Please note that they pass the credit card surcharge to you if paying by card. You can save a few dollars paying by cash. Definitely worth a visit if you want to enjoy a nice upscale meal."
