Reviews of Rock Furnace Trail - Trailhead
"The Rock Furnace trail is one of a kind. There is a swinging bridge, a furnace built in 1825 and a very unique waterfall called Jackson Falls along the trail. The waterfall is unique because it is a double waterfall. The trails are wide and clear for easy walking or mountain biking. There are some hills along the trail. This trail is popular so you may run into some people along your journey. Also it's a great place to walk dogs."
"One of the many excellent trails in Western PA! This one has a few great features: (1) a windy, well defined trail that covers some beautiful rugged terrain along a wide creek; (2) some neat rock formations that jut out, rise up and overhang, making for cool photos; and (3) a beautiful river, along which the creek trail tees into a wider and more prominent river trail, complete with a well-built covered bridge for foot and bicycle traffic. The river itself is azure blue, cold and quite deep at places (>12')."
"It's hard to make the right hand turn to the little parking area. I actually turned around this last time, so i could better see to get into the small lot. Great trail to walk. Nice surfaced wide trail. It was worth the drive there. Not too many other people there. Can't wait to come back and explore the area more."
"A nice short hike following a crick. Little over a mile. You can take some of the mountain bike trails that really turn it into a good hike. There a few different routes you can take. Be weary of taking it in the fall, it is easy to lose the trail with all the leaves. It connects into roaring run trail which is a more formal trail n popular for families. It's possible to take an easy hike or up the difficulty with the mountain bike trails."
"Beautiful trail, creek is amazing to walk and explore. Easy for kids, dogs and bikes. You can make it as challenging as you want."
