"Ordered the taco tour plate and the shredded pork came in a pool of grease. Idk how something so greasy could be so dry, but they accomplished it. The chicken tinga actually wasn't that bad but the uncooked tortilla was unbearable. Straight from the bag tortillas. I understand this is Pittsburgh but if you're going to call yourself a Mexican restaurant, you don't eat tortillas put of the bag, you cook them first. Please, I beg of you, start to serve cooked tortillas. I asked for salsa to try to mask the uncooked tortilla and legit a bowl of Rotel showed up. I was done after that. There's no hope anymore. My friend ordered the gobblerito and it was ACTUALLY good! The turkey was moist, the black beans were unsettling and the tortilla was ALSO uncooked, surprise. But, maybe you should change your style of business, cause you've got thanksgiving down! We assumed the margarita machine was broken before the food showed up, then understood. But then the margarita started to clump and separate in a way I've never seen before. If you enjoy giggles and make the most out of terrible experiences, I highly recommend this place! I will be bringing my Mexican husband here, for sure! SURPRISE!"
"We both had burritos, one with chicken and the other with the birria beef. They were very stingy with the meat. Also both had an over-the-top lime flavor. House margaritas were good. Service was quick and friendly."
"Stopped in with a coworker for lunch on a weekday and was quickly seated and greeted. Tried their beer cheese dip and chips, it was pretty good, with only a slight beer flavor and definitely wasn’t as spicy as the menu and server made it out to be. Also tried their original salsa – it was thick, not saucy and it was tasty too. Entrée consisted of their Tinga Taco – the marinade on the chicken was great! The beans and rice that came with it was just OK, but tasted better with lots of hot sauce. The restaurant has a cool, authentic theme and décor and the menu is loaded with interesting, unique southwestern style food. It’s definitely not the typical Mexican joint, slightly more upscale of a menu. I’d definitely return."
"I wish I have come to Mad Mex earlier. I have heard about the place from friends but didn't understand the hype. I understand now! If you like Chipotle (or don't like Chipotle) Mad Mex is a higher class restaurant for burrito and bowl lovers! Wow! Its a sit-down restaurant, but they serve your food within five minutes or less! Yes! The food came within less than 5 minutes! The burrito was out of this world! Not only that, they put the salsa and guacamole on the side so you can add them onto the burrito however you want. That's super smart! I don't think I will ever go back to Chipotle! The food here is so much better and you get your food much quicker her compared to waiting in line at Chipotle!"
