"It’s SUCH a great place to visit. My kids and dogs both enjoy a day on the trail. There are plenty of places along the water for the dogs (and kids) to get their feet wet. Kids love looking for crayfish and dogs love that there’s cool water to enjoy. It’s a whole family fun day and there’s so much to see and enjoy!"
"This is a beautiful park with a lot of history you can read about on a series of plaques. Also running through the park is the Kiski end of the West Penn Trail to the north and the Conemaugh end to the south that later runs into the Westmoreland Heritage Trail. There is some parking across from the VFW."
"The total mileage available is a little limiting, but otherwise these are my favorite bike trails in Western PA. Bridges, tunnels, a canal tunnel, railroad grade and some slightly more mountainous stuff in the other direction, plus the Kiski River and Loyalhanna Creek all make for excellent scenery and topography"
"I just want to start by saying that saltsburg is an amazing small town with so much rich history. I had the opportunity to walk the West Penn Trail north for a little while and was able to see so much beautiful views. There are some side trails along the West Penn that will take you down to the water, one of which has a nice little bench you can sit on. There you can see the piers a little closer and slightly farther down the trail there are three more piers you can check out and are really cool! I recommend heading this way if you have the time and want to spend some time in nature, it will be well worth it!"
"Always enjoy my walk thru."
