Allegheny Islands State Park

"So why should we care about Allegheny State Park? Well, it holds the supports for the PA Turnpike and the Bessemer Railroad Bridge. (See first picture from the Turnpike bridge and a second picture showing supports from the ground level). Also, if you like exploring really undeveloped land, this is your place. Flooding frequently and having no marked trails, it's a true wilderness experience. Since access is only by watercrafts, it's good to know there's a public boat launch at Deer Creek Park. "A lot of walking and stairs. I did see some elevators. Little buses to take you around. BEAUTIFUL PLACE. Go to restaurant early because it closes early. Good food and friendly staff. Lots of parking right on the island!"
