Gavigan's Furniture 1503 Rock Spring Road, Forest Hill, MD 21050

"I purchased a new kitchen table set about a month ago. During the delivery, I noticed one chair was uneven on my tile floor. The delivery man said "oh you just need to sit in it to level it out." I was in a rush to get to work and took his word for it. Later that night after sitting in it I discovered the bottom of the leg's plastic cover wasn't even screwed in and was broken causing it to be uneven. I noticed later when I got home and had all of my kitchen lights on that there was a small dent in the top of the table (can only see with reflective light, but you can feel it dents in too). Not worth the $1300. The sale's lady, Debbie, was friendly and helpful during the purchase process. This store is only a minor step up from Ashley Furniture as far as quality. I Wish Gardiners or Laumans still existed around Harford County. 2.5 stars"

"Everyone was real friendly. I love how the sales person let us just walk around and see what we liked. Checking in periodically and now following us like a hawk. We took a week from our original visit to measure everything out and our sales person remembered who we were and what we were interested in."

So, everything is beautiful (one tiny issue that isn't really an issue). The delivery guys were great!!! Jeanne was honest from the very beginning on delivery dates etc. while other stores were not. "I do really like Gavigans; they have a nice selection, the salespeople are generally very helpful but they do not stand behind the products they sell. I purchased this side table along with a bedroom suit back at the end of November in the Forest Hill store. The piece was delivered to storage while I was moving and stayed there until the end of February. Shortly after I moved the furniture in I needed to move the table to do some other work in the room and when I picked the table up the top came apart from the base and the base broke in two when it fell. I found that one of the bolts was missing from the bottom side where the table top connects to the base that caused the other screws to pull out of the actual sockets they screw into. Interestingly I also found when the base broke that the item is not solid wood as I was told in store but some sort of plywood looking material covered in resin. This is sort of a side note that doesn’t necessarily bother me except that it makes the table seem overpriced even at the black Friday sale price. I have been in contact with their support via E-mail who only offered me 2 options. Buy a new table at the price I originally paid or bring it to their repair center and let them attempt to repair it at 100 dollars per hour with an estimate of 3 to 4 hours note the high end estimate it more than I paid for the table. I asked them to reconsider and they are no longer returning my E-mails. All issues are handled remotely by what seems to be one person via E-mail only. You do not have the ability to talk to anyone or deal with the issue in the store. So I assume at this point that I am stuck with a broken table. Alienating a customer who has spent roughly 10,000 dollars in their store in the last few years over a 300 dollar table probably isn’t a good business strategy but that’s where we are and for that reason I cannot recommend Gavigans and I really wish I could."
