Reviews of Buttermilk Falls
"In my opinion it's the best waterfall within a 30 minute distance of Erie. It is a decent hike to get to. And you do need to venture off the trail to get to it, maybe 30 yards before the fall itself we went off of the trail into the creek to get to it. We saw snakes and trout along the way. If I were to go again, I'd wait until the day after a heavy rainfall."
"Great falls !! A little tricky to get to tho . You will park in the brown farm parking lot and turn right stand follow the grass opening and walk up a rocky hill and you will come to a fork and turn right follow that until you get to the creek and walk along the creek until you get there"
"As some others have mentioned, it’s a bit hard to find - especially for out of towners looking for a nice spot to hike. We followed the directions with Google Maps which brought us to a place on Old Sterrettania Road (no markings just a couple of other parked cars on the side of the road). We found the trail across the street which led us down a hill to the water/rocks. We followed the creek about 1/2 mile to the water falls. Well worth the hike."
"Good and bad. Worth seeing if you're an adventurer and willing to go off the trails. It's nearly impossible to find this place. There aren't any trails listed in Asbury Park. The surrounding area and access points all have no trespassing signs. Its an amazing view. I've never seen a water feature quite like it. Great hiking area. Water is super clear. It is very clean. Not too many people were there on a cold Saturday and we let our dogs run around. I would take my dogs here again."
"Right in the heart of Asbury Woods, just off of the beaten path and well worth the trek from the barn or Browns Farm! I would suggest checking it out from the top of the falls as well! Great views all around this place. Just saw a crane there 2 days ago, an owl flying around a couple of weeks ago, and plenty of little fishes swimming around. Excellent 4 mile walk from end to end of the main trail! Buttermilk Falls."
