"I loved both of my experiences at Miya Lounge! The first time I ordered out. I had Egusi soup. It was more than delicious! The portions are great! The prices are great! The food is prepared fresh. I love this because some African restaurants do not cook their food fresh. Miya lounge does!! I also tried the Suya pizza on my second visit. This time I sat inside and dined in. The experience was amazing. The waiter Clifford was exceptional! The staff is just so kind and friendly. The establishment is professional and kept up well. My friend had the peanut butter soup with jollof and boiled plantains. She loved them! I highly recommend this place!!"
"This place came highly recommended from a tik Tok reviewer so I thought I would try them on my next craving on authentic African food. Unfortunately they disappointed me. The price is high but I understand for this type of cuisine it’s expected. What I did not expect is them to give me the standard plastic Chinese carry out container for this dish. The portion was small. Please don’t expect to get a good portion for $30. These people appeal to others, not really the folk that grew up on good African cuisine. The way their food is packaged gives bougee. The most disappointing thing was the taste of the Egusi. I believe it was made with veggie oil and not palm oil. Well, that’s their preference but I can say I’ve had many dishes without palm oil and the food was not watered down. The Egusi did not give what it needed to give. Please folk. If you’re a foodie like me, go to a better well known place you’re familiar with. One that slaps!! I’d like to recommend After 12 in hyattsville."
"Good People!! This West African spot sent a message out on their Instagram in hopes to get some foot traffic. They are at risk of shutting down. When I saw that..pulled up!! But it didn’t take away from the taste of the chicken! The Jollof Rice ($7.99). DECENT. Good, I just needed it to be spicer. Their Pepper Soup Goat (with boiled yams, & spices $14.99). "If there’s a Black/African-owned restaurant you’re looking to support, pull up to Miya Lounge & Restaurant. I went once in 2020 and once again recently. Here are some thoughts about what I know about Miya Lounge and my experience: So the name of the restaurant is misleading because I think often times when people hear ‘lounge’ they think of a place that has alcohol/hookah. This place has neither. If you truly care about good food and not the aesthetics at all, then you will really enjoy this place. It’s definitely more of a carryout spot, but there are plenty of tables and seats to sit at if you want to relax. I will say, if you also want your food quickly, call in your order first, because you are not going to receive it quickly (the dishes definitely take time to prepare). When it comes to the food, they definitely have some of the best suya in the area. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the suya tacos though. I think the cheese takes away from the flavor of the suya and when it comes to jollof rice, I think it could use more flavor and spice, but I may be biased because I’m Nigerian lol. The suya pizza was a fish suya pizza and it was really good. It was not fishy at all and had good flavor. The goat pepper soup was delicious. The goat was nice and tender. I also really liked the eru and now am wishing I put more on my plate. When I come back, I also really want to try the grilled fish because it looks so good"
"Being from out of town this was a pleasant surprise! The menu was filled with African dishes that are very popular. The price is fair especially because of the portions they give. My suya tacos were good and a delightful. I highly recommended stopping in for a midday meal."
