"A bit pricier than other kabob spots in the area, but don't let that deter you. The quality of the food is nothing short of amazing. Worth every penny. Everything from the sauce to the meat, the quality is unmatched. The meat is super juicy and just melts in your mouth. PERFECTLY cooked and the staff are always friendly. Happy to give these guys my business."
"Easily the best kabob we've had since coming back from the Middle East. Every meat is consistently tender and flavorful. The lamb and kubideh are perfectly seasoned. The chicken is juicy but has a flame-grilled taste. I could eat a bathtub full of the chickpeas. You get a LOT of rice with every order, so unless you want leftover rice, I would call in your order or visit for a tray of kabob and then ask for a side of rice. It's served traditionally, so you get a tray of rice to absorb the drippings from then meat. You definitely want naan to make your own shawarma, or to mop up the plate. Wonderfully friendly staff, and prompt, on-time prep of an order. Very pleasant hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Be prepared...you're going to get a LOT of food. This is a go-to place when friends and family visit, because it's all served party style. Can't say enough about this place. Leaves the other kabob joints in the dust."
"Shandiz Kebab in VA, a small family-run restaurant, left me with a mixed impression. While the food was decent, I found the portion sizes to be on the smaller side. The atmosphere for dine-in isn't ideal, as it's more set up for takeout. However, what surprised me the most was the unusual request made by the owner. As a Canadian visitor, I was asked to pay in cash or pay extra due to potential credit card charges for non-U.S. clients. This left me feeling uncomfortable and frustrated, as I had to purchase an item without receiving it—a disappointing experience that left a bad taste in my mouth. Such a request is indeed uncommon in the global dining scene and detracted from the overall impression of the restaurant."
"Wow, fantastic!!! First time I had the Iranian variation. Not one bad taste on my plate... thank you for taking care of us! Its carry out with a few tables. Only reason I dropped 1 star on atmosphere."
"I first stumbled upon this place because I was in the area running errands and was looking for some place to eat. I found this place on Yelp. I was surprised to see an Iranian restaurant in the area considering this is Stafford County, VA. This is NOT Northern, VA, Washington D.C. or Montgomery County, MD. The first time I came here I ordered the Kubideh Kabob. It was absolutely delicious. The meat was high quality and was very succulent and flavorful. It was served on a bed of Basmati rice and includes a small salad and a small order of chickpeas. The next time I came here I ordered the Special Persian Saffron Chicken Kabob. That too was also delicious. I'm really shocked to see a restaurant like this in this area. This is really some of the very best Persian food that I ever had. Usually I would go to Amoo's in McLean, VA (my absolute favorite Iranian restaurant) for great Persian food. Shandiz is a much smaller restaurant that has far fewer items but I believe the quality is just as good. My issues with this small restaurant are that there are hardly any desserts (only baklava), there is no tea or coffee, and there are no restrooms available to the public. I really wish they would serve traditional Persian desserts like Saffron Ice Cream (Bastani) and Saffron Rice Pudding (Sholeh Zard). I also wish they would serve traditional Persian tea and Turkish coffee. I still highly recommend this restaurant. Note: This restaurant is in a very small strip mall that's part of a Sunoco gas station so it might be difficult to see off the road. Just look for the Sunoco gas station. August 27, 2022 Update: I recently ordered the lamb kabob which was absolutely delicious. Out of all the dishes that I have had here I like the Kubideh and lamb kabob the best. Also, the owner told me that they sold homemade desserts when they first opened their restaurant but eventually they had to stop because very few of their customers were buying them. This is no doubt due to their location (Stafford County). So as a result I am upgrading their rating to a full five stars."
