Reviews of El Tamarindo
"The cocktail wasn't worth $13.50 and the service was slow for a restaurant with less than 10 customers in it. I was given the happy hour menu but charged regular price even though I ordered a drink with ** next to it implying it was an HH deal between 3-7pm (their happy hours posted on the blackboard). I asked when I received the bill and they said I needed to sit at the bar to get the deal, not next to the bar. So ignore any other posting they have. There is no happy hour 3-7 just all day AT THE BAR. I won't be returning."
"Went for the bottomless Taco Tuesday deal and it was completely as advertised! Many AYCE deals are too good to be true but this was not the case here. Tacos were some of the best in the city and very good margaritas! Quite the budget date night spot. Definitely going again soon!"
"DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!! First off let me start by saying this was such a bad experience for me and my family we hope to not go through this again. We came here to have a good time and we heard about this place from an Instagram video. But things were definitely not like that Instagram video. My family got the bottomless brunch which is $45 per person and I decided to get a regular burrito off the normal menu. I am pregnant and I don’t eat a lot of things. The alcohol beverages came out first which took some time and the food did not get to the table till 45 minutes after we ordered and it would come out with one dish and take another 15 for the other. All I ordered was a burrito and that didn’t come out for an hour. Once I mentioned it again the gentleman taking our order looked at me confused and then said they will make it right away. But that still meant another 30 minutes. Our server from the beginning didn’t seem to care about our table and was gone most of the time. The restaurant wasn’t busy but yet they said they were very busy so food and drinks would be out late. There is only a 2 hour limit for the bottomless brunch from when we sit down. We felt as though we were being scammed of our money because no food was coming out and the food that did was not of good quality, each time they came out with another plate it was missing food or the portions were getting smaller. It was just very bad. Once I finally got my burrito the server placed it in front of me and never said that the plate was hot. I got burned twice, it was way way too hot. I used to be a server and I can grab hot plates but this plate literally burned my hand. The whole mood was off and we didn’t really feel welcomed there, we were ready to leave and asked for the check and once I took a look at it they charged us $100 extra on our bill. And once we asked the server why we got charged for extra dishes when those fall under the bottomless brunch for $45 he gave attitude and said he is going to get the manager. The manager had a good attitude at least and was able to adjust the bill but it really seemed like they are just trying to scam people."
"I went late on a Wednesday with colleagues after getting into DC. Cozy Salvadorian -Mexican spot for snacks. I ordered the Pollo al Cilantro and Loroco con Queso Pupusa (but the pupusa never came; the ones my colleagues ordered looked good.) The cilantro chicken was hearty and comforting and I'd order that again. Service was solid and handled by multiple staff, and that may be where the second part of my order got lost even with follow up. I was still full from what I ordered so no harm. I also tried some plantains and fried pork my colleagues ordered. The pork had great flavor but seemed a little over done. The plantains were good. Overall a good experience."
"You can't got wrong with the pupusas, the bean & cheese, chorizo & cheese, and pork & cheese are my go-to choices. I've also had the fajitas a couple of times and they were so good, it's a lot of food though, I couldn't finish everything on the plate. We always get an order of the guacamole when we go and it's top notch!"
