Reviews of FIG & OLIVE
"I visited Fig and Olive for dinner during the Metro Washington Restaurant Week. The prix fixe menu featured a lot of the great options that they have on their regular dinner menu; and the options from the cocktail menu had a good range of various liquor bases on offer. The service was great. The server for our table was attentive despite being busy with a few tables. For my three courses I had: • Burrata di Bufala • Peppercorn-Crusted Strip Steak • Lemon & Olive Oil Cake I really enjoyed the Burrata di Bufala - it was my first time trying roasted golden beets, and it was much to my delight. The difference in textures and flavours with the beets, honey crisp apple and burrata was delicious. For my main course I opted for the Peppercorn Crusted Strip Steak, which was prepared just as I wanted it. I enjoyed this overall - but I will say I found the roasted veggies a little too salty for my liking. Overall this is a very upscale Mediterranean restaurant in the gorgeous Palmer Alley. Don’t be surprised if you see people having mini photoshoots in the alley - it is a pretty great location for unique pictures with a trendy background."
"Had some girl time and enjoyed the warm fall day eating outside. Since November is my birth month, of course there was cake. We had some bumps but the manager handled it beautifully and got us all sorted."
"So I was just getting to DC, and of course was starving, somehow I found this little gem. Hostess was super friendly and gave us a table immediately. Drinks, food, I fell in love with the fresh oysters I got. An amazing fig salad and delicious dessert. I want to go back"
"Review based off Restaurant Week Lunch Prix Fixe The ambiance here definitely fits the Palmer Alley luxury and opulence vibes. Upon entering there is a quick greeting and usher to seats by the Maitre d'. I was able to take in the atmosphere most after being seated, I definitely love the high ceiling, high mirrors and glass used throughout the interior. The bar also has a nice appeal. Service was a bit slow considering the amount of persons, I was given two empty pepper grinders, the third was fully loaded. These were minor issues, nothing to cause a fuss about, Im extremely patient but I do wish we could've gotten our check sooner. A manager(guessing) did stop by our table prior to dessert which was a nice touch. My party(2 persons) opted for the Zucchini Carpaccio and the Harissa Carrots. I favored the more robust flavors in the carrots which came from the Fava Bean Hummus it paired well and the rainbow carrots were perfectly cooked. The Zucchini was a great light option but can be a little overpowered by the spicy dusted almonds. Our main course winner was the Adana Lamb it was cooked to perfection and the portion was nice the accompanying bulgur grain with sweet currants/raisins was a good pairing(grilled peach slices were a nice touch). The salmon burger was cooked well but I would personally opt for removing the kalamata olive based tapenade. The cucumber tzatziki alone was more than enough for the burger. The dessert trio came with a brownie, creme brulee, and cheesecake I'm biased and will always go for creme brulee, the taste and consistency was good and the torched sugar cracked nicely. The ambiance is great, I'm hoping the regular dinner menu items taste better than Restaurant Week considering this grand location."
"Service was quick and attentive. Atmosphere is great. Decor is amazing. Drinks were good. We started off with tonic water and then had their Menton Spritz which was tasty. For small plates, we enjoyed the zucchini flatbread. For our entree, we had the branzino sea bass; it was a bit cold and unflavored. My sister had the salmon burger which she notes was unseasoned. My other sister had the fig & olive burger which she enjoyed with the exception of the mustard dressing. Not impressed with the entrees but the overall experience was nice. Price was not too bad. Would return for drinks and small plates."
