"Great experience, great business! We were in town for a day, so I figured renting a ski would be a great way to explore and enjoy a hot sunny day. I browsed the local rental options, and picked SOMD because the other websites were a bit vague as to what skis were available. I read that SOMD used Seadoo Sparks, a lightweight machine that's made to be nimble and throw around, a machine I wanted to try out. When we arrived 30 mins early as advised, we were greeted by a young lady who was super sweet, engaged and did her job well. She got the paperwork all squared away, and another young man took over and got us fitted for PFDs and showed us a bit about the Spark. Both very respectful cool young people. As we waited for another party to arrive, I looked over the skis, and noticed they were all in great shape. The owner arrived after a few minutes, so I got to chat with him while we all got set up. I learned that this is a small, family run business, which we were so stoked to hear! They had the perfect mix of professionalism and laid back style. We were so happy to be supporting a family business who cares about the experience, and not a big company with employees who aren't invested. They hooked us up with bottled water for free because we forgot to refill on the way. Simple thing that made our day a lot better. After assessing my experience and skill level, the owner said we could pretty much do as we please, as we had the ski rented for two hours. This was great because I had already found some spots close by that I wanted to visit. I told him my idea, he gave me a couple instructions and was cool with the plan. The owner led the group out past the no-wake zone and told us to have fun. He stayed with the 1/2 hr rentals, while we headed up river to a sandbar where we swam for a bit, and took turns ripping around on the Spark. I did notice him swing by with his boy to check on us. We both threw thumbs up and he was gone. We did some slow speed sight seeing up a smaller creek, checking out folks' sweet homes and waterfowl, and then some more ripping. It was a great time, and there isn't anything I can think of that disappointed me. You won't be disappointed renting from SOMD! I'm already laying plans to bring more friends 2 hrs from my home so we can have another great day on the water with SOMD."
