Reviews
"The battlefield site is reasonably preserved, but following the trail can be fairly difficult. There are no markings along the trail, save for the occasional info display and flattened foliage. They tell you to keep on the trail, not least because the immediate surroundings are used for farming, which also means those info displays are much harder to spot while crops are growing. Parts of the trail are prone to flooding as well, forcing you to either stray off the trail or turn around."
"Beautiful battlefield site! Still used for farming, but historic path with info markers winds through the field. Lots of open space, old farm house on site is not accessible. No public buildings. No restrooms, but there is a Wawa about 2 blocks away."
"thank you for hosting us this past weekend, very special and memorable! hopefully future events will be better advertised"
"Made a quick stop here to check this site out over the weekend. We didn't have time to walk the entire trail. The trail is 1 3/4 miles long. There are various markers to outline what took place at specific spots like a lot of historic locations have. The location seems to be preserved/kept up very well from what I could see."
"Since this site has been preserved to look how it did in December 1862 by the Civil War trust, it is worth visiting. There are comfortable trails with solid interpretive signage. And the view near the railroad really does feel like that's exactly what it looked like in December 1862. Slaughter Pen Farm at the southern end of the battlefield was where Meade successfully attacked the Confederate right at Fredericksburg but did not receive reinforcements beyond John Gibbon's division. Meade protested his lack of support: "My God, General Reynolds, did they think my division could whip Lee's whole army?""
