"Excellent kayak launch spot, for free! The sunken ships make paddling here both informative and an adventure. Do not recommend inflatables due to the many hidden underwater obstructions. Paddle along the bay itself for the sunken ships, or north to fish, or go south for a while to hit the fossil beaches. Great location for getting out on the Potomac. Very friendly staff, who are happy to let you know the history and will give you a sightseeing map if you ask. A few trails to walk nearby too."
"No so much about the tank (which had good access), but the walking trails were nice and the h history was interesting. Lots of eagle sittings."
"Tho I came out here for the fishing, there's a lot to see and to enjoy. The staff that works there is friendly and very informative. They even gave me suggestions on where to go and what to use for the type of fishing I was after. Came out here a week before thanksgiving, but I am sure I will come back next spring or summer."
"Super cool place to see old sunken ships. There are (according to the Mallows Bay Website) 185 documented sunken ships here. I have included a couple shots below. Note: This is a restricted flying area, you need approval to fly a drone here. I had approval"
"Amazing place! Launched our kayaks from here and paddled out to see the Ghost Fleet. Such awesome views of sunken boats! Be careful around the old ferry, when I was there in the summer (2016) there was a hornets nest on top. I was attacked and almost jumped ship. Luckily I wasn't stung, just paddling away from the ship got me into a safe zone."
