"Out of Towner: I ordered something I felt would be delicious, chowder and coconut shrimp. It was the first shrimp in where I wondered how I had just wasted $11 on this mushy breaded shrimp. Because I've been traveling and was desperate for protein - seafood, I went for it. I then moved to the chowder, which coming from western Oregon, I do have high expectations. This failed terribly, it was bad in taste(bad base) and gelatinous in texture. I'd like my money back, I'm still hungry."

"I ate lunch here before heading to the airport. I did read the sign on the door before going inside which stated an automatic 18% gratuity on your check. I could not believe an additional tip was being requested. This was not my first time visiting Baltimore but it was my first time visiting Owing Mills. The bartender and the service she provided was great. The food was okay. I ordered the Crab Cake Basket and was given a paper plate to eat from. To have a customer pay over $50 including the gratuity and eating from a paper plate. I will not recommend this restaurant."

"This was my first time at Hook & Reel, and it won't be my last. The service was great, and our waitress was really nice. She answered our questions and was patient with our group of 5. I've never had a seafood boil before, and I wasn't disappointed. I ordered buffalo wings for an appetizer and the large catch with snow crab legs, beef sausage, and a 1/2 lb of headless shrimp. It was expensive, but well worth the money. I would recommend this place to any seafood lovers."

"It's a cute place with a really friendly and fun staff. I got the shrimp basket and while the shrimp were huge, there was no seasoning, so it was flavorless. Kim was our waitress and she was so sweet that we'll be back anyway."

"This is in a nice location and the ambiance is nice. The service was slow eventhough there wasn't that many people in there but Nikki the waitress did a great to try and make up for the slow service. The drinks were pretty good. However when you have a seafood restaurant in Maryland it has to be great because Maryland is the seafood capital. The seafood wasn't seasoned and tasted bland. I would recommend the Cajun seafood paella because the Cajun seasoning on the rice was good. The experience wasn't bad. It just wasn't great."
