Reviews of VHB by Vicky's African Hair braiding & lashes
"Has anyone been able to reach Vicky Hair Braiding recently? (Within the last few weeks) Would like to schedule an appointment. The number listed on the website is not working. Thanks in Advance !"
"Vicky and her hairstylists are great! I’ve been going to her for 5+ years now and always enjoy my hair! She use to live 30 seconds from me; however, she moved but that haven’t and won’t stop me from going and giving her my business!"
"Ms. Vicky is an excellent stylist, love my two cornrows and it always a pleasure doing my braids with her. Very pleasant and attentive and helpful. She knows what she is doing. Thanks and I will recommend if you are in Emmitsburg, MD come and check her out."
"Vicky is so talented her work is phenomenal and she braids very fast. I had a hard time finding her some of the information listed is not accurate."
"AVOID AT ALL COST! Unprofessional, "Protective" styles installed without regard for clients natural hair, Will NOT REFUND your money! Contacted Vicky after seeing her reviews to have faux locs installed for a protective style for my 7 year old daughter and I. After two weeks of conversation (on the phone and via text) about our hair type (fine, naturally curly), technique and avoiding stress on scalp (referencing Dr. Kari Williams), length, type of hair requested, and amount of time it would take I felt confidant in booking with her and her stylist. My Hair: Vicky and another stylist worked on my hair. Upon arrival (9 AM) Vicky showed me the "Human Hair" that she had purchased to install in my hair was the wrong color despite the picture sent to her for color type. When she return from exchanging the hair started my hair, after one loc she stopped to show me a small shoulder length loc. I reminded her that I requested medium width waist length goddess locs (as we previously agreed and she quoted me $200 including human hair blend). The hair installed was a very cheap version of synthetic hair. She proceed to tell me that for waist length locs it would be $250 and that the hair would change texture once dipped in hot water (which actually causes the loc to unravel) and over time the loc naturally loosens. She reassures me that once my whole head is done I will be the style I requested. So I gave her the benefit of the doubt instead of running. Her assistant arrives and her 3 month old baby to her back and starts to assist with braiding my hair...into micro braids! Fast-forward (6 PM- the time I was supposed to be done) after the asst having to stop every 30 minutes to tend to her baby and only 25% of the back of my head was wrapped in faux locs. I asked Vicky how much longer? She informs me it'll be another 4 hours at minimum we could be here until midnight. At that point full of frustration I tell her to stop! I had made plans and I'm not having my daughter sit in a shop until midnight. She could tell my dissatisfaction and said that it wasn't all about money and she wanted her clients to be happy that's why she has such a high rating. She told me that if I came back the next day she would finish my hair or create a new style like my daughters as long as "I" took my hair out that night! Trying to give her the benefit of the doubt (yet again) I said I would contact her in the morning. I reluctantly paid $440 for me and my daughter services, had to pay cash b/c she conveniently didn't take credit/debit cards despite the signs on her window. Unraveling the locs were pretty easy, However my hair was in twinned in the braid, I couldn't tell where my hair started. After failed attempts of trying to unbraid the braid (even with a bobby pin tip) I ended up cutting the braid in which I ended up cutting off some of my own hair. It was well into the next morning when I finished taking out my hair. Frustrated with the damage caused To my hair I texted Vicky telling her that I would not be returning. My Daughters Hair: Upon arrival Vicky discouraged me from putting faux locs in my daughter's hair because it would be "too painful" (even though when installed properly the pain is minimal if any at all) and stressed Senegalese or box braids. I agreed for her install Senegalese twist in my daughters hair which ended up being so painful my daughter was crying as the stylist continued to pull on her hair. My daughters hair started to unravel that night. Today my daughter was very distraught as she handed me a braid (with her hair still attached). End result: I asked for my money back several times from Vicky which she refused despite being provided proof of her damaging me and my daughters hair and for not completing my hair. The only resolve she offered was for us to return for her and her stylist to fix our hair. Would you return to a stylist who supposedly specializes in "protective styling" to have your hair further damaged. Obviously it is ALL about money for Vicky's African Hairbraiding! SAVE YOUR HAIR, TIME AND MONEY!"
